    Digital VRM

Technically, this involves part of a power supply.
I happened to see an ad about an Asus P8P67 Series motherboard with digital VRM, and it is worthy of interest here.
Have other manufactuers implemented this feature yet?
This appears to be an extension of Digital Power Factor Correction: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10721
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

    Re: Digital VRM

As I understand it, a digital PWM controller is required as of Intel's VRD 12 specification, which is what 1155 board VRMs have to comply with, but I can't find a copy of it online. This is just a standardized interface for software control though, not sure if there's a DSP involved in handling the analog end like with those Cirrus PFC controllers.

Software controllable PWM chips have been pretty common for the last several years.
