    Acbel API4FS06 +12v rails

I've been using lots of those 550w Acbel units lately, but I haven't gotten around to really looking inside of them yet.

What I'm curious about is the 3x +12v rails. One is only rated at 8 amps. Any idea which one it might be? I noticed that some connectors have a blue stripe on the 12v wire.

I Just don't want to connect a big video card or something to the wrong rail, and I'm too lazy to take it apart :-)

Maybe checking for continuity between various connectors would give an idea, but I'm not sure how the output circuits are constructed.

Hmm....I've changed my mind. I'll try to answer your question better. Thinking...

Well, I found out last week that connecting more than 6 hard drives to one of these causes it to shut down. It's possible that this one is messed up, but I haven't had a defective one yet.

Just cracked mine open. 12v3 (rated at 8A) is connected to all the molex and sata connectors (blue striped 12v wires)

12v2 connects to the 8pin EPS connector, and of coarse 12v1 is connected to the main 24pin connector.

Exactly what I needed to know, thanks!

I guess a mod is in order. I need more power for hard drives. I assume 8A would be enough to run a single core S478 P4. Maybe I could swap the connections internally.

Oddly enough, I have a Geforce GTX 460 connected to one of these, along with a hard drive and DVD burner, and it works fine. That 8A rail must be working pretty hard though.

Just thought I'd say that the 12v rail swap was a success. No problem running 9 hard drives now, and the swap was real easy. Each harness went to a single solder lug.

Macbook Pro A2141 020-01700-A GPU Artifacts then no S5 rails
              by skwarszczow
              Hello everyone,

This is my first post on the forum

I recently purchased a MacBook A2141 from a colleague at work, which had issues with the dedicated GPU. The system occasionally displayed artifacts on the screen and sometimes experienced kernel panics related to the GPU. Interestingly, applying pressure to the VRAM module would temporarily resolve the artifact issues, which made me optimistic about the ease of repair.

              Board: 020-01700, Config: Intel i7, 512GB SSD, 16GB Ram.

Before completing the purchase, we decided to erase...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
              by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
              • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
              • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.

MacBook Pro A1707 Motherboard Diagnostic Help – CD3215 heating and Fluctuating Rails
              by Cemal Odabasioglu
              Hello everyone,

I'm currently diagnosing a MacBook Pro A1707 motherboard that does not power on. I've gathered some data but am stuck and need expert advice.
Note that i'm a beginner in electronics and i'm trying to learn while trying to repair this macbook that my work gave me. I'm really curious and love understanding how thing works and i already learned so much.

Only one usb c port is taking 20v and have 12.5v on PPBUS_G3H. when trying other ports, 2 are not going to 20v and one is going to 20v but the CD3215 is getting really hot.

              Observations...

Crimping CAT7 connectors high failure rates
              by CapLeaker
I’ve had and got a few projects using quality CAT6 and CAT7 23awg solid copper, shielded, direct burial cable. Each time I use CAT7 connectors, most of them fail making good connections to the 4 wire pairs after crimping. I tied a couple of crimping tools, thinking my crimper is bad. Also used different CAT7 RJ45 connector manufacturers. Same thing. I kinda calculate 6 connectors to make one cable!
Get this: I use CAT5 or CAT6 connectors, no problem. Very rare I have a miss crimp with those. So what gives?! ...

              Are USB C connectors standard
              by Eniaro
I have a number of laptops with damaged USB-C connectors.
I wonder if I can buy a few replacement connectors from Mouser to keep, as it seems like the wafer in the middle breaks easily and oftentimes causes shorts.
I do know there are multiple connectors out there, but I'm curious to know which are most commonly used and how can I identify and purchase the correct ones.
I purchased USB mini-B connectors in the past, only to find out that the connector was flipped (Lenovo smh).
