    614-0454 dps-980bp failing

    Hi, I have this PS.

I really don't know where to start measuring.
I power it on, and it does a clicking noise.

What should I check first. Also is there any documentation of how one of this works? I didn't find a schematic.

You may get more help if you explain to a detail what and what not your power supply is doing. Also upload some high resolution straight shot pictures using the attachment function.

Sure, Well the Mac Pro isn't turning on.
So, no power output. Looking around in this blog I found that you can power it on by shorting some pins.

But if I try to do it, it outputs 12v, but starts doing a continuos clicking noise every 500ms.

I couldn’t find any schematic either for this psu. I guess you have to open the psu up and upload more pics in high resolution using the attachment function rather the embedding one.

          No power
i have the above ps which i change the TOP258eg ic.
Now i have power but is clicking and voltages are flutuating. I change all capacitors, i test all mosfets and all are ok.
i am wondering what is the value of R901! I am getting 0.5Ohms. Is that correct!
the colours look like R,R,W or silver,G Bl.

          Thanks...

Removing electrical noise introduced by fan
          by tony359
          Hi all,

I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.

Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
          1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
          2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
          by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...

Onkyo TX-SR805 noise in one channel
          by MegaZAC
Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

          PSU - BN44-00878A

          Symptoms:

The TV turned itself off, and I haven't been able to turn it back on. The standby voltage was unstable and lower than it should be.
A weak clicking sound was coming from the transformer.

          Video with clicking sound:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAduhjNtqCA

          Progress:

After the transformer, I measured four Schottky diodes. DM862C and DM864C diodes readings were 003 in both directions. After detaching them from the circuit and measuring them, DM864C was the shorted one. These Schottky diodes are SB550.I...
