The modified bios solution to deactivate the soldered ram works but the problem is that windows downloads the updated bios version through updates and once the bios is updated the soldered ram deactivation fails. I solved it this way instead. I downloaded the latest bios from the Lenovo site, I cut the parts relating to the flash software, I modified the bios to deactivate the soldered RAM. Now the machine works, if I enter the bios the serial entry is invalid. In this way Windows will no longer be able to automatically update the bios because it does not recognize the serial number and therefore the change remains permanent except if it is updated manually by downloading from the site (I'm not sure but about this) Me engine cleaned. I attach the bin file if anyone needs it

Isn`t there a bios setting to turn off bios capsule updates. This model can be disabled via resistor straps, it`s a permanent solution with no need to worry about the bios updating. The modified bios solution to deactivate the soldered ram works but the problem is that windows downloads the updated bios version through updates and once the bios is updated the soldered ram deactivation fails. Why disable onboard ram with bios when hardware moded solution is already posted in the forum.
Bios method should be used when it cant be disabled by hardware.
Once the customer updates bios or gets the same thru windows update, you know what'll happen.Comment

You know why, no soldering needed. Windows firmawre update can be disabled.Comment

I have a question the laptop i fixed is for my customer and the problem wasn't the bios but the onboard ram itself, i dont have any resistor straps lying around and what can be my solution to fix the onboard ram to not enable? i worry that they might do an update via windows update and it would revert back.Comment

by BloodhoundjeHi everyone,
I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.
I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.
After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.
I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...-

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

by cr4zychrissHello everyone,
I am requesting urgent assistance to unbrick my laptop, a rebranded TongFang GK7MRFR chassis. The laptop is completely dead following a faulty in-OS EC flash attempt.
I have successfully used a CH341A programmer and can read/write/verify both flash chips, but using my backups/extractions has failed to restore power. The root cause is likely a corrupted Intel Management Engine (ME) region or an incompatible EC/BIOS pairing. System & Hardware Details- Barebone / Chassis: TongFang GK7MRFR

by JOOYOUNGHi everyone,
I'm trying to modify the onboard RAM SPD data inside a BIOS file.
I just want to update or replace the SPD information properly so that the system can recognize the correct memory specifications.
I already know that BIOS is hard-coded and that not everything can be simply copy-pasted.
But my goal is only to update the SPD data itself — nothing related to hidden menus or enabling extra BIOS features.
For reference, my laptop model is RZ09-0472, and I found the SPD information I need from an ASUS BIOS.
I have uploaded both my...-

by piratiHello everyone,
I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.
When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.
I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...-
