    Dell Latitude 5501 Bios password

    Hello,

I'm new here, I received a Dell 5501 which has a locked bios.
I tried unlocking it trough bios-pw.org, but seems like this doesn't work with the service tag suffix "8FC8".

If i understand correctly this is the procedure?:
    1) Open up the laptop, remove battery and locate the BIOS Chip
    2) Use a ch341a programmer, and take a backup of the bios.
    3) Upload the bios backup here
    4) Receive "updated" here on the forum
    5) Download the new bios to the chip

Is this correct? Any risks involved in this?
    Thanks!

1 to 5 - yes. In general, the procedure is described correctly.
The only problem is the successful reading of the chip, and accordingly its writing with the unlocked dump - this programmer is notorious for its erratic performance.
Being cheap in buying tools hides some unexpected surprises.

        Thanks for the feedback @Vesko356 & @hoaca388.

I will order an TL866II programmer, is it necessary to desolder the chip or can i use the clamp adapter & program it "in circuit"?

        I prefer to not desolder..

        Thank you.

In general, for the best result chip must be unsoldered from the board, but it can also be done in circuit - the result depends on the quality of the clip used for this purpose.

Dell Latitude 5400 Chromebook UEFI bios
                        by jhanra
Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...

I am trying to remove the BIOS password for a Dell Latitude 5430 motherboard LA-L591P. So far I think that I have located the BIOS chip but NeoProgrammer says that is detects 3 chips. I have attached the dump from each one. Are any of these the BIOS file? Service Tag: 1DMC1T3. If nyone knows the exact location of the bios chip as well I would greatly appreciate it...

Dell Latitude 5490 (LA-F401P) - Boots from USB-C only, not from DC Jack after BIOS flash
                        by YOUCEF4787
                        Hello everyone,
I'm working on a Dell Latitude 5490 with a LA-F401P motherboard that has a very peculiar issue, and I would appreciate your insights.
                        Initial Problem:
The laptop was completely dead, no signs of life, no power LED.
                        Action Taken:
I flashed the main BIOS chip with a clean dump. This brought the machine back to life, but with a strange limitation.
Current Situation & The Main Issue:
The laptop now works perfectly when powered through the USB-C port. It charges the battery, powers on, boots into the OS, and functions 100% correctly....

Dell Latitude E7270 - Requesting BIOS clean/corrupt? service tag CB00KC2
                        by TripTop
                        Hi

i have dell latitude E7270 with following symptoms:
                        - takes long time to restart.
                        - sometimes powers on and then off
                        - sometimes while working it just dies,

From googling online bios clean could possible resolve this?

i was able to save bios and was going to try bios clean myself but get an below error when i drop it in ME analyzer.(unsure whether this sometimes occurs or could be due to bad/corrupt bios)

As ME analyzer gave me an error i just decided to write bios with a cleaned bios from E7270 bios post.
                        I reinstall...
