Have another shop bring in a Fujitsu E557 where they chose to do Windows optional updates. One of these was a BIOS update to V1.16. After applying, it got into a reboot loop and he pulled the power. Now the power light comes on, then a few others, attempts to power on and switches off.
Seems this maybe an issue with this update as it's already been reported by someone else on their forum. Fujitsu told them to replace the board (ha ha).
Anyway, Fujitsu at least have the V1.18 BIOS update available and there's a BIOS ROM in it. File size is different to that extracted in FIT so I'm not 100% sure about just dumping that in with FIT. This motherboard has a Fujitsu embedded controller on it, so have no idea how to reprogram it if something goes awry in the BIOS code.
So attached is a dump of this system and the ROM file in the V1.18 update. Is it ok just to put this ROM into the FIT and rebuild the image? I assume the extra space is for DMI/NVRAM variables.
Motherboard part number is CP695750 but it also has a sticky label CP729434-01
