Thank you very much RethoricalCheese! I was able to use your program successfully on 650 G2, 8470P and 840 G3

On the 840 G3 there were 2 chips, a Winbond and an MXIC. I first patched the Winbond dump but there was still the password, then I patched the MXIC dump and it was OK.

Just wanted to give a huge thanks to the OP for this utility. Successfully removed bios password from an Elitebook 820 G2.

Bios chip is a Macronix 25L12873F which is not technically supported by flashrom, yet reading and writing both worked by using the MX25L12835F/MX25L12845E/MX25L12865E option.

The Winbond chip is the EC ROM (size=2048MB), I suggest flashing back the original, you could have messed up the embedded controller firmware (although if the laptop works, I guess its fine).

I put the dump into the HPunlocker and then I reflashed this 2MB unocked file into the bios chip. Of course now my notebook is not starting anymore. Only LED'S flashing. My Notebook is a HP 840 G2 i5200U.
Is it possible to fix the bios chip by reflashing an unlocked version of the bios from someone else?
Please advise.

First check this site to see if your HP is supported for the great tool Mazzif has made.

If your model is newer and not in that list, you need to dump your bios, remove password from dump and reprogram bios with modified dump.

For that you need an SPI programmer like CH341A or Raspberry Pi with Flashrom or any other similar programmer. A soic8 clip is also useful so there wouldn't be a need to unsolder bios IC.

When you have your dump, just drag and drop your file on my HPUnlocker tool and it will create a new file. It will add "_unlocked" to the name of your locked file.

Just program the new file on your bios IC.

This unlocker should work on all Elite, EliteBook, ProBook and maybe some other series HP laptops.

For those of you who need to unlock large amounts of laptops, I recommend adding a registry entry:

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\HPUnlocker\command

Then modify that string adding

"C:\*location-of-exe*\HPUnlocker.exe" "%1"

This way you just need to right click your locked file and select HPUnlocker.

If there are any issues, please do let me know so I can improve this tool.

I'm kind of new on this. I have a HP Zbook G3 with locked bios. I have a CH341A programmer (I just buy this) and when I start the tool it say Failed to execute script HPUnlocker. I run this on Windows 10 x64 from C:\ or D:\ (set compatibility mode to win 7).
Can you please help me to unlock my bios?

It's correct what I understand?

- read locked bios using CH341A programmer
- backup locked bios
- erase bios
- unlock bios using HP Unlocker
- flash bios using CH341A programmer tool

yes..remove the cover and read on the motherboard, do not use the clip to read or write the bios chip ... you may have errors..remove the bios chip from the motherboard before reading or writing it ..

thank you for assisting.
I fixed the problem by using a different fashing programm and still using SOIC clip.
My recommendation is:
CH341 V 1.29 programmer does not work correctly
ASProgrammer does not wirk correctly
NeoProgrammer 2.1.0.19 is working!
I used clean 840 G2 Bios dump from another website:
