Hey, I hope everyone is doing great, I'm new here trying to figure some stuff out. I have a Dell Latitude E6420 that currently is getting stuck at the startup screen when booting, but here's some info on what happened. If you don't care drop down below.

So this E6420 was going to be thrown away into E-waste, so I saved it in perfectly good working condition a while ago. Not to long ago, I was testing to see how much ram it could take and maybe get it to run some games like Counter Strike Source. Now I've had it play games before and it loves to run real hot as it'll go a little over 90 degrees Celsius with fresh thermal paste and a clean fan, but were getting off topic sorry. I installed a consumer version of Windows 10 and decided to use ReviOS to not have the background processes take up all the ram. I was then trying to look at updating the E6420 to the newest drivers, which the bios on the laptop was currently on version A06. I decided to download Dell's Support Assistant to get the system up to date, only for after installing it and clicking on the program to open up and decide to just close while it was running in the background. So I thought "maybe its not a good idea to try updating the computer on ReviOS, so I'm going to reinstall windows," which I proceeded to go back to the boot menu and reinstall a fresh version of windows. When it was done, it never booted into anything.

It will turn on and show the Dell slash screen with the loading bar, but it will not go any farther past the splash screen. You dont press F2 or F12 and it'll freeze with a full bar or show a black screen. You press F2 or F12 it will just go to a black screen, a half splash screen, or it'll have a blinking bar at the top like you can type something up. I've tried using some normal troubleshooting but all attempts failed and is pointing at a corrupt bios, so here's where I'm at.

The current bios on the system is A06, It basically wont go past splash screen. I bought a CH341A Bios Reprogram Kit on Amazon but haven't messed with the chip or anything. I've watched some tutorials but all of them are mixed signals and I don't know what the best software is for a CH341A programmer. Most people show tutorials for normal desktop motherboards for custom PC's, not OEM laptops for 2012. I do have a bunch of Raspberry Pi's and there is a guide online on how to do it, but I'd rather figure out how to do it with the CH341A, and the guide doesn't make a lot of sense for someone like me who doesn't know anything about flashing a bios with a programmer, but the traditional way).

Can someone please help me understand and figure out how I can flash the bios using a CH341A so I can get this laptop operational again other than at the boot up screen. If you need any picture or information on the laptop, let me know and I'll answer as soon as I can.

post merged..next time look for a thread with the name and model, motherboard model of the laptop, and post there, if you can't find it, then make a new thread..

post S/T, full name and model, motherboard model, ,etc.

post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted..

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

you need an SPI programmer...here is a video for example..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWi...nnel=ThisIsHow

Sorry about not putting the bios help in the wrong channel I do apologize. So I do need to figure out everything about the motherboard and the bios chip before ever using the programmer; however, I've seen people program the chip with it still soldered onto the motherboard, are you sure I need to de-solder the chip off the motherboard?

I already mentioned that its a Dell Latitude E6420, its a PAL50 LS-6591P Rev 1.0(A00) motherboard made in 2011-03-11. Here's the photo of the motherboard info and the BIOS chips just in case. I hope the photos upload correctly.

Someone flashed the bios using a Raspberry PI on a similar E6420 on this website and he never de-soldered the bios chips from the motherboard. Here's the link https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...raspberry-pi-b

Thanks to the links for the CH341A programmer files, I appreciate it. If this needs to be moved again that's fine, I'm just wanting to make sure I do this right the first try and not have to resort to buying a new chip and lead to messing up the motherboard.
