840 G2 Macronix (MXIC) MX25L12873F Read Write Issues

Sorry not sure if this is the right section for this.

840 G2 Macronix (MXIC) MX25L12873F Issue with flashrom on Raspberry Pi or TL866II Plus with Xgpro.

I have no problem reading and writing and using hpunlocker with WinBond chips.

When I try the Macronix MX25L12873F then flashrom would be unable to detect the chip and Xgpro would fail the verify right away when trying to write back.

I also noticed the Xgpro is getting Device ID differences as shown in screenshots:

When autodetecting the chip I see Device ID: C2 20 18.

    When I do a Read Device ID I get Device ID: C0 00 08

When I go to write the chip I get: ID error! Wish to continue programming, please cancel [Check device ID] option!

I tried getting some info from eevblog but it wasn't helpful.

    https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projec...?topicseen#new

I have tried this with chip on board and removed from board with the same issue. Could there be problem with the Xgpro database or other problem? I assume others have reprogrammed this chip model. I wish they would have kept the winbond chips as it has been super easy to work with.

Thanks for any help - I really appreciate the good people on this forum.

Re: 840 G2 Macronix (MXIC) MX25L12873F Read Write Issues

    Hi,
I've the same programmer and using the socket sometimes I face the near same problem (ID sometimes is read and sometimes not).
Have you tried soldering the chip instead to use the socket? (if the chip is good the problem gone for me)
PS: I know this is an old post but if you solved the problem it could be useful to add some info.

So i found something strange, i have a mac a1370, already took the dump from the mx25l640E, i dont have the adapter but i managed to solder it on a board adapter with cables

      I can read from it

I can erase it (VERY SLOW THO)

but cant write on it, am using CH341 3v (came modded from where i brought it)

Macronix MX77U51250FZ4I42 SPI flash on Dell Latituted 7350
      by ukpicasdo
Hi. I got a Dell laptop with MX77U51250FZ4I42 SPI flash as per photo.
I am using CH341A with 1.8V adapter to try and read it. I did micro soldered under uscope wires directly to the chip on the board.
Neither of software (NeoProgrammer, Asprogramer and few other) is recognizing this chip.
No datasheet available. Emailed Macronix - they said datasheet is "not available for individuals I'm afraid".
I tried manual settings of size (67,108,864 Bytes) and different Page size (128, 256, 512) but although it does start and finish reading process all I get are zeros?...

bug of the month: write caching setting for the hard drive in device manager
      by ChaosLegionnaire
i recently bought a new wd re4 2tb with 2014 datecodes. when i got around to testing it tho in victoria hd tester, the write speed was very slow at 14 mb/s with a 256 sector transfer size. when i increased the transfer size to 1024 sectors, the write speed increased slightly to 44 mb/s. read speeds and sector verify speeds were fine and at normal speeds.

so i just ass-u-med the drive's poor performance was due to it being an advanced format drive and i was using it on winxp. when i tried cloning my system disk to this wd re4 2tb drive and writing to it in linux, the write speed...

      Hello,

Here I have the mentioned tablet with motherboard s6000-mb-h401. The tablet won't turn on, no display, charging normally. I manage to connect to UART port and got this output when I try to start it:

      Code:
      [PWRAP] pwrap_init_preloader
      [PWRAP] pwrap_init
      [PWRAP] _pwrap_init_sidly [Read Test] pass,SIDLY=0 rdata=5AA5
      [PWRAP] _pwrap_init_sidly [Read Test] pass,SIDLY=1 rdata=5AA5
      [PWRAP] _pwrap_init_sidly [Read Test] pass,SIDLY=2 rdata=5AA5
      [PWRAP] _pwrap_init_sidly [Read Test] pass,SIDLY=3 rdata=5AA5
      [PMIC_WRAP]wrap_init pass,the return
