Change serial number on 2010 Macbook Pro

I hope that I have posted this in the most relevant section and if not I apologise in advance

I have watched the @Piernov video on doing serial number change on later Macbooks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poA8HByYqTM and have managed, as far as I can tell, to successfully change the SN on a 2016 820-00875 board. As a learning experience I compared my modified file to one done by a friend with a lot more repair experience than me and the files are identical (files compared in Total Commander software) So next, all in the name of learning.

I just reread my question and it needs a bit of work so I will reframe it later. Thanks

    Hi
Onlygood if you and your freind worked on the same exact bios. If bios was from another computer it should not be and exact match. It will have differences like in the me region serial # and so on. Just so you know from a learning experience .

Thanks for your answer, and yes it was the same file. I just worked out what I was doing wrong. I was pasting the reversed checksum in to replace the CKSM from the previous SN. What I need to do was right click the CHSM and use Fill selection then paste the hex value into the window of the popup window in HxD. All sorted now

      Fill selection https://imgur.com/a/ofsGLkD

      Valid CKSM https://imgur.com/a/khwQm36

Gigabyte MB missing serial number in BIOS
        by acerRI
        Hi everyone,

We have in company to custom PCs with Gigabyte B760 GAMING X (1.0). When i export hwhash for enrolling PC in azure, i got computer name as MMDEFAULTSTRING.
PCs wiht this name are not compliant with company policy, number should be MMDxxxxxx (xxxxxx is serial number of mb).
I have found that is possible to embbed in BIOS serial number so when i exporting, it will get proper computer name.

Does anyone have know if somehow do that, maybe with some hexeditor, because i have found that some specialized tools are needed.

        Any help will be...

Lenovo thinkpad P1 G2 UUID and Serial number/mashine type unknown
        by mshone
Sorry if topic if misplaced. Have lenovo thinkpad P1 gen2 with Xeon E-2276M CPU and NVIDIA® Quadro® T1000. It is a new board replaced. Old board was P1 G1 model with i7 and it is defective. I ordered a new one with xeon, but is gen 2. Laptop case is suitable for this motherboard, with some little difference (GPU fan and subcard).Ok, ordered and replaced and GPU fan and subcard and now laptop is working fine, but serial number and UUID is unknown. Ok, i readed several topics here and found Thinkpad maintenance disk, but.....which values to type? How to find data base with those values? serial...

Updating Serial Number on EliteBook x360 1030 G3
        by Friend33
I have an EliteBook x360 1030 G3 and after a motherboard replacement, I want to change the serial number and the FeatureByte. None of the known methods work. MPM is locked and cannot be unlocked via EFI.

Therefore, I read out the two chips and adjusted the serial number, FeatureByte, and Born Date using a hex editor. Now the system won't start anymore. I think I did something wrong with the FeatureByte, as there was a message indicating that the file size was changing.

        My serial number is: 5CD849BL7Q
        FeatureByte:
        3X476J6S6b7B7H7M7R7W7maBaEapaqauawbVbhcAd6dUdpdq
