Updating Serial Number on EliteBook x360 1030 G3

I have an EliteBook x360 1030 G3 and after a motherboard replacement, I want to change the serial number and the FeatureByte. None of the known methods work. MPM is locked and cannot be unlocked via EFI.

Therefore, I read out the two chips and adjusted the serial number, FeatureByte, and Born Date using a hex editor. Now the system won't start anymore. I think I did something wrong with the FeatureByte, as there was a message indicating that the file size was changing.

    My serial number is: 5CD849BL7Q
    FeatureByte:
    3X476J6S6b7B7H7M7R7W7maBaEapaqauawbVbhcAd6dUdpdqfXgdguhKhZjh.qM

    Can anyone help me?

main_nowork.bin hasn't the right size. I understand that is old bios from your old motherboard, right? Also Feature Byte you want to write has 125 bytes and the other one has 129 bytes. You can use BCU to modify DMI, open cmd as admin, go to folder where BCU is installed (usually Program Files X86) and write : "BiosConfigUtility -get:1.txt" A file "1.txt" will be created, open it and you'll find serial and feature byte, modify them, save as "2.txt" (or whatever, save it in Docs and copy it in BCU folder). then, in cmd write: "BiosConfigUtility -set:2.txt"
I modified your bios with serial and Feature Byte but I think is easier with BCU instead writing bios with programmer.

      Thank you,
isn't there the same problem with the size of the EC file?
How do I insert it correctly so that it looks like your file? I just copied the byte into the hex file as unicode.
Unfortunately, BCU does not work for me because I cannot unlock the MPM.
I can test the file tonight and can then say whether it works.

if BCU doesn't work it means you have password on bios.

No my bios is without password, but how should I work with BCU if MPM is locked?
I'll test it, but so far I'm not aware that it works like that.
I have flashed your file, now it works again and the serial number fits, but now I always get an error with the security unit when booting.
Does the error with the Feuture byte perhaps also need to be fixed in the EC?

Of course I reset the security settings in the BIOS to factory defaults, but the error remained.

I tested it again with BCU, but the born date was not adopted. And you can't change the serial number and feature byte with MPM anyway, can you? Since all the methods described no longer work so well on newer devices without an SMC.bin from HP, I wanted to learn it myself with the hex editor.

I can also adjust the born date in the hex editor. But how do I remove the error when booting?

Before I read the chip I had already tried all methods, including with the various Wndmifit versions, but the MPM is locked and in the efi there is also an error that the MPM protocol is not available, which is why I was advised to ask here directly.
As far as I know, all the tools only work under WinPE if I have a new board with an open MPM. Because that didn't work, I opened this topic here.

Thank you very much! I was able to solve the problem before I saw your post. I had the same error in the EC file that you pointed out to me as in the main file.
I copied the feature byte from your mod file into the EC file so that the file size didn't change.
Then I adjusted the born date and rewrote both files. Now everything is fine and the error during boot no longer appears.
Thank you very much, I was able to learn a lot.
