Hi all, I'm very new to this and might need some help figuring out where the chip is on my p52. I have a CH341A reader, but don't quite know the process yet... Can anyone help walk me through the process of finding the appropriate chips, flashing, and removing the supervisor password?

It's a laptop I just purchased... I think the cmos battery came loose because the system time clock was reset to 2001 and won't let me boot into the computer.

Here is an image of the main BIOS screen in case that helps with unit serial numbers and such. Thank you all

        Hi everyone,

So I have a Thinkpad p52 that was bios-locked with a supervisor password...

I have felt uncomfortable disassembling the full laptop given the bios chip is accessible via a cutout after removing the back access panel, but a standard BIOS clip doesn't fit in this little space... So for my CH341A I had to purchase a spring prong that I hold down onto the BIOS chip to read/write.

Anyways, I have successfully been able to recognize the chip in my writing software, clear the BIOS chip, verify the chip is clear, and start the writing process... But no data is being written on the chip! Now instead of a computer that I can access but not edit BIOS settings... It is completely bricked!

Does anyone know what the issue in writing to the BIOS chip might be? Do I need to desolder the chip? I don't have the tools for that and feel uncomfortable taking apart the laptop... Is it a problem with the CH341A?

        Yes.

The CH431A is the cheapest programmer but not the best programmer, especially when it comes to using a clip.

Do you have a suggestion for a better unit? Do you think my BIOS chip is fried or do you think it's salvageable? Do I need to desolder the BIOS? I just don't know what to do in this situation and would appreciate any help y'all might be able to offer.

post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted..
