    N551JM - cold CPU , CPU vcore present-Clean ME

    Hello,

Ive been troubleshooting a N551JM mobo that turns on fully but cpu doesnt heat up at all, only the coils get warm

Can someone clear ME region of my original dump so I can test to see if BUF_PLT_RST comes up and cpu starts to work.

    Thank you

Your model number in your bios backup is G551JW . The silkscreened part number on your board will be N551JM Rev 2.0 ,G551JW should be on a sticker somewhere, and you can check the GPU part number , the G551JW has a GTX960M, the N551JM has a GTX860M.

Try this bios with your dmi + clean ME firmware.

        Hi,

For sure it has a 960m , as the nvidia chip is a n16p-gx-a2

I dont have the full machine to check the silkscreened PN

I will trw those dumps in a bit and report back

          Hey Flea!

Thanks once again for the file. Appreciate it

So I ve tried with this dump and when applying 19V board starts up to 360 mA, but still cold CPU.And BUF_PLT_RST still 0V Nvidia chip is still warming up

Now if I short the power button pins on the keyboard connector for several seconds, the board shutsdown, but its taking from 21 to 37mA jumping around randomly when off. Could be a sign of something wrong with the PCH or even maybe CPU?
Anyone with more ROG board experience that could suggest something here?
          Or just a lost case?

Thanks for all the help guys!

            Hi!

ive been trying to figure out this Asus N551JM mobo problem.

The motherboard turns on by herself when I supply 19V with PS.
Goes directly to 390 mA , and rises a bit to 410 mA 1 min after or so.

All VCC signals are present, CPU vcore 1.7V etc
NVidia GPU warms up, but what surprises me is that the CPU does not get hot at all. The 3 coils of CPU VCC are warm, but not CPU.

Measured a bit and taking a look at the repair guide I came to the signal H_CPUPWRGD who is 1.07V
I was expecting a signal around 3V, but not...

Apple 820-3662 VCore shorted to ground.
            by barry101
            Hi, Would appreciate some help.
I have an Apple Late 2013 15" A1398 MacBook Pro with Logic Board 820-3662.
Get charger light but no fan spin or chime. No liquid damage.
Found PPBUS and VCORE both shorted to ground. Other rails were ok.
Removed VCORE MOSFETS U7310, U7320 and U7330. Found U7330 was in fact shorted.
With the 3 MOSFETS removed, get PPBUS and fan spin. VCORE is still hard shorted to ground (0 ohms).
Attempted voltage insertion on VCORE to locate short using bench supply set at 1.0 VDC and 4.95 Amps (max current for my...

CPU vcore missing in HP workstation Z2 Mini 4G
            by Francisco.s
Hi, have a HP workstation Z2 Mini 4G for repair with CPU vcore missing.

The resistance at the output of CPU vcore coils, is less than one ohm so I think CPU could be damaged, but no mosfet are damaged.
It mounts an i7 8th gen, and have only i5 7th gen for test, but I think it is not compatible.

Without CPU in the socket there is no short, but there is no vcore voltag, and it emits a beep like no detecting ram.

The controller chip for cpu vcore is a MP2949A, and has no enable voltage at pin 37.

I wonder which circuit generates this enable...

Rx580 8gb sapphire nitro+ turn off vcore randomly
            by mikzs
Hello, this is my first post, English is not my native language but I hope you understand me. I recently got a 580 that didn't turn on the typical short mosfet, as I didn't know exactly which one was short, I unsoldered them until I got the bad one out, I was able to remove the short and identify the bad mosfet, the gpu gives video again! but it has a problem that completely turns off vcore at random times or if I try to put a load on the gpu vcore drops to 0 I don't have much idea why because I don't know much about sapphire, any advice on where I could start looking or what problem it could...

Hp Lh482p 5 short 3 long short after cpu vcore mosfet replacement
            by jm942
            Hi,
My laptop went dead and after checking ,the main 19 volt power rail was shorted. After some checks i could identify that a high side vcore mosfet was shorted.
I replaced the mosfet and now the white powerled is present , fans start spinning but capslock shows the famous 5 long and 3 short code.

I checked the vcore voltages after replacement and i get for all 1.01 V so means for me that the driver is still working of the replaced shorted mosfet. On the Nvidia i measure around 0.8 V after the mosfets.
I did voltage injection on the cpu with 0.7V and i have a current...
