    S5200-802 Toshiba

    Hey guys.

Do I need to reflash to reset the bios or there is a general password that let's me skip it?
It just hangs there and it doesn't pass.

its quite an old model so password is in bios only. Try flashing it first. As you are aware, there may be password reset jumper near ram slot. Look for them as well.

I'll open it soon and disconnect the bios battery and see if it works.
The bios got a strange shape and I don't think my ezp2010 knows how to flash it.
      I hope for the best

            Re: S5200-802 Toshiba

I left the laptop without bios battery for one hour and still nothing.
Tough tomorrow I'll investigate the pad and that small display.
There are 3 pcb there. Maybe one is with that bios secure.

Nevertheless this laptop has some high end build. Seriously.
            Over one hour disassembly .
Thermal pasts still good after so many year. I mean still liquid if didn't became rock.

                    Re: S5200-802 Toshiba

Found some more info. The satellite 5200 doesn`t have a paralell port so you can`t remove the pass with a loop back adapter, you need an adapter card and cable.Good luck finding one though.
                    https://www.hobbielektronika.hu/foru....php?id=122509
Satellite 5xxx require Printer PC Card (P000293630) and PC Card Cable (P000293640)

The user manual says the password is a maximum of 10 characters long, with no special characters.Try a few passwords you might be lucky: TOSHIBA, 5200 ,123456 ,5200802

Any parallel pcmcia card will do?

I don`t know, the pinout for the P000293630 Printer PC Card might be proprietary.Flashing the bios might still be an option if you can find it,it should be 512kb . I`ve extracted the bios update, its 320kb it would need merging with a hex editor. The password could be stored on a different IC .

                              Wow. That's good.
U left the board out and I'll take some lens and check every if.

I order the pcmcia card. I'll check at work to see if I can get an old cable if not I'll buy one.
                              Ty.

Alright. Done the connector and still the same.
Moving on to identifying the bios chip?
Does it store on the HDD?
Should I get a HDD adapter?

Do you still get the password = without the hard drive attatched. The dongle might be working ,have you tried entering a new password. The bios chip might be hidden under the white plastic, or metal shields, and could even be part of the lcd pcb , it could be 16 pins, or even a PLCC32 soldered or socketed.
