Hi to all,
i need some help about a bios of the my Envy 17-j110el.
A short story of my trouble:
When i try to change the date (must be set prior 2014) of my Envy to use recovery DVD (HP bug, cannot complete) the NB reboot into black screen and CAPS twice lamps...bios broken
Now i've restore the BIOS from a clean image .bin take from hp.com, used the DMI tools for recovery the SN, SKU, etc etc, it's works again but the recovery DVD don't activate Win8.1 DVD recovery.
Now I ask if someone can help Me to restore the original state BIOS (activation DVD-Win8.1), or can suggest how to...
I've the dump of the corrupted BIOS, taken from 25Q64, desoldered from MB.
The BIOS version is F63, BID 1966, PK Win8.1 Home, i don't know, not taken, the model of MB....sorry, any other info needs i can tell.

Hi ...thank You for help Me...but how to program the BIOS? I ask this, because the size is more 8912 KB, mine BIOS is a dump of the chip in my hand, take off the MB. Soldered e unsoldered from MB many time..

So, if i must use the original Insyde Tools the .sig is the original from the HP SPxxxxx.exe file?

And, there is a possibility to test before 'burn' the BIOS, a kind of emulator..

The bios i posted is the correct size for flashing with a bios programmer 8,192KB. How did you backup your bios ?

I've dump the BIOS, with a direct reading with a programmer TL866, because is the only mode (i know) to dump it, removed from the MB, read with the SOIC08 adapter and USB programmer. after the reading, save the file, broken, sent to You. Ops sorry, is my mistake seen the size in Winrar was 8388608, and confused with the size crypted with couple .sig and .fd

There is another methode? (without unsolder again the chip)
I must use mine, because i have a black screen, with flahing caps, nobody recovery methode suggest from HP site has worked for Me... Win+B (or V) USB drive create with another working NB, crisys folder...only unsolder the 25Q64 has worked..at 90% with the recovery DVD i cannot activate the factory Win8.1

Flash the bios at post #4 its a clean bios,the latest version with clean ME with your DMI added from 25Q64FV-Envy17j110el-Anto-F63.BIN .The bios you made "25Q64FV-Envy17j110el-Anto-F63_Clean_PK_after_disaster" has a difference in the DMI,you can check it with a hex editor or with the TL866 hex view at 303,000

Hi SMDFlea. sorry for delay to spoke again...just a little busy at work, soon i'll try Your BIOS, and next time i will ask some things about the BIOS stucture to understand better how it's work.
If i can talk to You... ofcourse without disturb your work. ME, DMI, $VSS and other... or You have a page where are explained this concepts and how it's works
Planning this WE to try the BIOS burn....waiting also 2 25Q64 new for burning test

Ok SMDFlea...tried to reprogram the BIOS with Your file, but nothing todo, same thing, dont activate Win8.1

Any other suggest? ideas....a working dump, is the best ofcourse, and so i can change only the SN, model and other my numbers...

I don`t think there`s anything wrong with the bios.You can find a clean 01966.bin using the forum search.Perhaps its the recovery disks that are corrupt, i`d get a win 8.1 ISO instead and do a clean install.

Hi, can You view this images taken from my Envy, in some zone are missing data...screenshot from SlicTools, RW and internet for compare.

get a win 8.1 ISO instead and do a clean install.Win 8 will activate .

Hi, thank You but i don't want use a generic (clean) windows 8.1 image iso, but .... i've solved with a manual activation from the ACTIVATION menu of Win 8.1. Forgotten which i've change the wireless card, with another (stupid myself) card, but was a HP compliant Envy NB, from a RT2390 to Intel AC-3160 Dual Band. probably after the Sys Restore, the NB, recognize the card (intel) but not activate Win in auto mode, because isn't native!!
Now the DVD/Partition recovery seems work, after a long battle days sodered and desoldered the 25Q64BV...

I wish thank You again, because YOUR BIOS version is working and inside NB, just only the 'manufacturing programming mode' to disable with the BCU. 5 min of work, and TADAAaaaa., all gone good!.

Only one thing, if possible or You know, there is a possibility to integrate the Intel AC-3160 inside bios, like a module...and ofcourse how to. And have documents to read about "How to learn about BIOS UEFI work, anatomy of a BIOS, dangeon and secrets of this strange components"?

You have take F70 (clear) from HP, and extract the hex zone 0x300000 to 0x304FFF from mine F63 (corrupted), and copy over the F70 0x300000 - 0x304FFF, right? there is a map of the of the zone, which can i study for know what's they do? 4000/4FFF
