          Password goes to KBc in this model-100% sure. So need to flash kbc. No other way to remove password.

              The e7740 you linked to had a very old bios version A14, so the EC would be an older version as well. Version A17 bios changed the password algorithm , and the latest bios has a new master password lockout, idon`t know if a bios downgrade would work if the latest bios and EC was flashed ?

                  Dear Rioreno, anybody can be wrong-no fighting for that. If my memory is not failing, then e3540 password goes to kbc. Yeh, agreed it dependes on platform to platform. Its not universal that password will be stored in kbc but as far as i remember, latitude e3540 pass stored in kbc.

                  Let nabiglo flash the bios first so that confusion goes away.

                    Therefore I ask you, are you sure you have ever faced a case with this e3540? because for this E3540 has never been discussed for password bios cases on our forum.

                          Yes as far as i remember i faced this issue on dell latitude e3540 at my bench and resolved it by flashing kbc. Do we post every case on which we work-no thread on forum doesnt mean, nobody faced it.

                                          by zenius
                                          Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

                                          Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                          by overclocker1786
                                          Hello I have a dell optiplex SFF plus 7020 with a password that I recovered from e-waste. It is possible to get the password removed via the bios patch method? I managed to dump the 32MB bios chips and would like help patching it to MFG mode so I can clear the password.

                                          Thanks.

                                          1hj4z24 = Service tag

                                          A schematic would also be amazing if anyone has one!...

                                          Hi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...
