Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
Yes I know but if I read the chip and open wit hex editor, its only zeros, can't see any content. I have multiply programmers and softwares.
Always have difficulties with this 1040 G1 and G2
In my case the problem is Machine not in committed state because I have not set the vPRO functionality and locked the MPM
If I unlock the MPM again I can commit the board and voila. Problem solved.
What can you do with the dump?

Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
I can done without dump if I have the correct SMC.bin file. That will unlock the MPM again and I can modify the faulty settings with HP DMI Tool. Lock the MPM again and every boot error will disappear
Just need the generated SMC.bin file for my serial and UUID

Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
The problem is I added the SKU in the wrong format and locked the MPM
This caused not in commited mode error.
I don't want to deal with DUMPS, I prefer the original method.
If no any other way I will dump the chips.
This was factory new replacement motherboard from HP

Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
I have replaced my motherboard and reprogrammed the UUID, serial (except the feature byte and build Id).
The problem is that during boot it says :
"Warning Machine is not in committed state"
When I open the DMI firmware tool it says MPM is not in unlocked mode and the "Commit only" button on the bottom is greyed out.
Where can I find the feature byte and build Id how can I unlock MPM? I read SMC.bin has to be generated based on the UUID and the SN
This is my problem also with factory new 1040 G1 motherboard.
I need to reunlock MPM to correct the fields.Leave a comment:

Here is where bios requests go: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40 .You need to backup your bios using an SPI bios programmer.Last edited by SMDFlea; 09-02-2020, 03:46 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
hello
over the years i collected some versions of DMI tools for hp
and i wanted them to be all at one place
take note that some version are not correct (limited information, missing readme etc)
for some laptops you need older, for some newer but there is plenty here
also, you need to use this tool in dos
and there is Manufacturing Program Mode Error solution here since it is related to bios programming
enjoy and remember to share versions you have or related fixesLeave a comment:

by tsavpynDear all,
I forgot my BIOS password of my Surface Pro 3, I searched for solutions for a long time and knew that by using FPT to dump my bios to bin file and using decryptor, I can get my BIOS password.
Now I have a problem that I am unable to dump my BIOS into bin file.
My Surface Pro 3 currently runs on Ubuntu 22.04, with Secure Boot enabled and Boot From SSD Only.
I searched for FPT but there is no Linux version and none of them work.
I hereby request a copy of Intel Flash Programming Tool for Linux x64.
I would really appreciate it if anyone...-

by tony359HI all,
I am working on some boards where all 100+ SMD caps have to be replaced (yes, they actually went bad!). I found a workflow to remove them comfortably (two irons, pre-heater and extra hot air for larger ones on ground planes).
When it comes to soldering them back, I add solder to one pad and then I use a plastic tweezer to keep them in the right place while I solder that leg.
The tweezer works - but I was wondering if there is a more "dedicated" tool or whether someone has a better idea. If it was for a bunch of caps then who cares. But because... - Loading...
