Bricked bios from a legion y540-15irh (81sx) . Needing dmi/clean me region maybe

Edit: apologies, I only need help with the DMI info.. I thought the ME region would need attention in order to recover from bricked state but maybe I misunderstood.

Im a novice to this experience but in short, I performed a backlash from the latest and final bios firmware BHCN45WW to BHCN26WW hoping that would solve an issue with keyboard functionality failing after an update. Ended up hanging during flash process and then system would no longer POST on reboot.

USB recovery process didn't seem to take. So today I successfully managed to get the BIOS dump from my machine with the Ch143a mini programmer or whatever it's called. I read the file twice, saved 2 versions, used hex editor to compare both files, it came back they were identical. I understand that before I can flash the stock bios from the Lenovo site which I extracted from the .exe and then pulled the 16mb bios region from that initial 17.6mb BIOS.fd file, I have to have the DMI information injected into the stock image.

I also read some ppl here mention cleaning up the Me region?

At any rate, could anyone please help me with this ?

EDIT!!!! I Found A significant development.... after reviewing my bios dump with the added dmi, I just discovered that it was at BHCN27WW. The stock bios image from the lenovo site is for bhcn45ww which is the latest and final bios firmware.... I attempted to backflash from it down to an earlier version in hopes it would resolve keyboard issues that occurred when windows did an update, Not sure what i should do at this point but tell me whats needed and i'll do as much as i understand how.

OH, apologies! I initially tried to upload the .bin files instead of zipping. Here is the original stock 16mb from Lenovo, my bricked dump and then i think i was able to use lenovodmide.exe to decrypt the 2 dmi blocks from my dump and if i understand correctly, it output a version that should have the dmi information there now. But that file is still corrupted. I guess where i am at is i need to figure out how to inject/merge the fresh clean stock bios and the dmi updated dump together minus the corruption. So that's what i think i probably need help with.

Hello, brother. I am from China. Is your motherboard model NM-C221? If so, the issue with your laptop's keyboard not working is actually not a BIOS problem. This laptop has a common defect. You need to remove and replace the L23 next to the keyboard chip U22, or you can connect L23 with wires. The problem with this machine is that L23 is faulty. When L23 is broken, it causes the keyboard to stop working in PE and Windows, but it still works in BIOS. So, all you need to do now is update to the latest version of BIOS and replace L23.

This is the Lenovo official BIOS version BHCN45WW. I have already written your original DMI information into it. Try it out and see if the laptop displays normally. If it does, you can proceed to repair the L23 inductor to fix the keyboard issue.

, also, yes, you are correct. My motherboard is nm-c221 rev 1.0 (I think 1.0? But I'm.confused as to why I see info from other users with the identical 81sx, 1660ti gtx 256gb ssd that say rev 2.0).

I did manage to get the keyboard working on 2 separate occasions when I messed around with lenivos system update and downloaded did the suggested driver update for the Nvidia vga adapter I believe it was .. but on reboot it stopped once again ... And another occasion it was as simple as a power drain and battery pull... But again, back to square 1 on reboot...

If this fix requires using a soldering iron, then I'm terrified... Just the fact I managed to clip the SOHC8 clip into my bios chip and have it be detected is amazing to me lol...

I agree on that note... Ok so regarding the BIOS you helped fix for me, does the ec firmware match for bhcn45ww as well? I know the ec firmware on my dump is from version bhcn27ww ...which is what remained when I attempted the failed back flash from the current firmware installed at that time.

I've read on here someone experienced the identical hang up when they attempted to rebuild the bios.

Do I need to be concerned about the ME region as well?

                      Hello laptop repair experts,
can someone plese, help me understand the significance of cleaning ME region in a BIOS dump file?
I know that Manegement Engine (ME) data is part of BIOS/UEFI firmware. I know that it contains some HW specific data for the particular laptop.
What I don't know, why do I need to clean ME region if I try BIOS dump file from another laptop (of course same type and model). I'm not sure if this is only because of the serial number (not sure if that is stored in ME region at all).

Recently, I had a two cases where laptops (one is Lenovo Idepad...

It's possibly a Chinese offbrand laptop that uses a generic series of motherboards called y116te. It has no image. All power rails are working. No bios dumps could be found on the internet. Tried similar bios from this thread. No difference. I wanna try cleaning the TXE region of the bios but cleaning TXE region seems too advanced for my skills. Please help clean the TXE region from this dump ...

                      by Jasonexe
                      Hello everyone,

I got a Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop that recently stopped working. I found out that the 3v rail was shorted because of a dead PCH so i ordered a replacement already and i'd like to clean up the ME Region from the bios dump i made with my CH341A programmer (modded to 3v). I used ME Analyzer along with the other tools needed and came across a issue where i can't replace the ME Region with the other file because the size is too big ? I'm not completely familiar with this and i'd like to know what i would have to do to fix it....
