thanks unique. it will be my second option.

        Update:

Try to flash bios and it was successful and it manage to show the boot options but something came up. Got a "Serial not found" message on top of the boot screen. I downloaded bios file directly from hp and from the exact model. I don't know how to edit stuffs in programmer. Is there a way to modify it. thanks man

if you google "hp dmi toolkit" there will show up a tool that you can edit.
never use it but if you do tell us

I have already downloaded a DMI tool. I attach file. Do you know where I can find GUID and PCID number? I can't find it on the case.

I've got those numbers already. I'm looking for the GUID and PCID. or maybe I'm mistook it for a different number. by the way your image shows exactly whats underneath my dv5

GUID is a 1394 MAC address, which should be somewhere sticked on mobo itslef...
This & LanId (Lan MAC address) are important...

PCID is not that important & also can be generated by DMI toolkit...

Yes. You will find GUID and LanID on a label on the motherboard. The LanID will be close to the network port.

What would result if I didn't input GUID? I find mac address of wifi module but for lan cannot see it on case. lots of numbers which I think are part no's. Just finished installing windows 7 on this machine. I'll try to look for it again. thanks guys!

Re: HP DV5-1118CA weird bios boot menu

It's not on case...these numbers are ussualy found on the motherbard itself...look for stickers with barcode...

Oh...the guid is basically mac address for firewire and obviously lan mac is for lan connection...
If you don't put them in they won'T work at all...eg internet won't connect via cable...not sure about firewire...you must put at least lan mac...if you can't find that use any random mac but never the same as wifi mac, cause one of them wont connect...
