        Wrong chip.

        If :

Bios 8MB, choose chip with number 64, for example: 25Q64VDS...
        Bios 16MB , choose chip with number 128 , for example : 25Q128VDS...
        Bios 32MB , choose chip with number 256 , for example : 25Q256VDS...

The file I dumped was made with the chip winbound 25Q80DV @WSON8 selected in xgpro. I added a picture below of the IC itself and the markings on it. The only other option I have for this IC is 25Q80DV(OTP) @WSON8. All the other ones that are close are soic8/16.

This is the bios chip that was pulled off the motherboard for the hp laptop I'm looking for a bios for.

If the chip I have selected is not the correct one which one should I use based on the part number of the chip that is in the laptop?

              It's not a bios chip.

Notice to users of XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76 programmers regarding BIOS backup file size
                    by m1ch43lzm
                    Hi everyone
I noticed on the Xgpro software the BIOS backup files have extra bytes at the end when reading some chips, this is because the Xgpro software also reads the OTP region of those flash chips, and by default will append that region to the saved file
                    Programmer models: XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76

Example: GD25LQ128D (1.8V), IC size is listed as 0x1000000 Bytes (16777216 bytes) + 0xC00 bytes, those extra 0xC00 bytes will be appended to the end of the saved file by default, resulting in a file size of 16780288 bytes
There's also an extra OTP Secu.R...

Gigabyte MB missing serial number in BIOS
                    by acerRI
                    Hi everyone,

We have in company to custom PCs with Gigabyte B760 GAMING X (1.0). When i export hwhash for enrolling PC in azure, i got computer name as MMDEFAULTSTRING.
PCs wiht this name are not compliant with company policy, number should be MMDxxxxxx (xxxxxx is serial number of mb).
I have found that is possible to embbed in BIOS serial number so when i exporting, it will get proper computer name.

Does anyone have know if somehow do that, maybe with some hexeditor, because i have found that some specialized tools are needed.

                    Any help will be...

Lenovo thinkpad P1 G2 UUID and Serial number/mashine type unknown
                    by mshone
Sorry if topic if misplaced. Have lenovo thinkpad P1 gen2 with Xeon E-2276M CPU and NVIDIA® Quadro® T1000. It is a new board replaced. Old board was P1 G1 model with i7 and it is defective. I ordered a new one with xeon, but is gen 2. Laptop case is suitable for this motherboard, with some little difference (GPU fan and subcard).Ok, ordered and replaced and GPU fan and subcard and now laptop is working fine, but serial number and UUID is unknown. Ok, i readed several topics here and found Thinkpad maintenance disk, but.....which values to type? How to find data base with those values? serial...

Changing BIOS Serial Number After Motherboard Replacement on EliteBook x360 G3
                    by Friend33
                    Hello,

I have an EliteBook x360 G3 where I had to replace the motherboard. Everything is working fine and there are no errors during boot. However, I have the issue that the serial number in the BIOS is incorrect. When I run the DMI tool under Windows, I get an error stating that I am not in Unlocked Mode and therefore cannot make any changes. I was able to change the Asset Tag directly in the BIOS. Now I am wondering, can I simply read the BIOS chip, change the serial number with a hex editor, and write it back, or what other options do I have? The old motherboard did not work at...

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo UX8402ZA BIOS
                    by pirati
                    Hello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...
