by dbuergiHi all,
i got a Macbook A2442 which statrts normal but is not showing any picture. Using an external monitor works fine. After opening the Macbook i found a dried up line of liquid damage around CN979, RD503, and UP730. I cleaned up everything and also unsoldered the chips to clean the pads. There were no shorts before but i still don't have any picture. Sometimes you can see a glimpse of light in the middle of the display.
So before i change the whole display i want to make sure that it's not any issue with the logicboard. So any ideas what i can check next?... -
by TechSplendidHi All,
I'm working on a MacBook Pro A2442 (14", 2021) that's not powering on. On two out of three USB-C ports, I get 5V and the current briefly ramps up to around 0.210A before dropping to 0.036A. On the third port (JF600), I only get 0.0045A and it stays there.
Initially, I suspected a faulty CD3217 on that port, especially since I noticed signs of previous liquid damage near the JF600 USB connector. I replaced the CD3217 with an UF400 (from an A2442 donor board from the same location). According to the supplier, this should be a compatible version, but the behavior... -
So my friends A2442 MacBook Pro stopped charging one day and hasn’t worked since. It wasn’t like an immediate shut off, like it worked until the battery died but now she can’t charge it so idk what to do with it.
I don’t have an ammeter (yet it’s coming soon) so idk if it’s doing anything funky with current or voltage but I know it doesn’t charge on ANY of the ports.
I took it down to the motherboard hoping to see an obviously bad component but everything looks good.
I don’t have much experience with laptops, only consoles and controllers... -

by rouninDevice Information
• Model: MacBook Pro 14” M1 Pro (A2442)
• Logic board number: 820-02443-05
Original Issue
The device suffered liquid damage, causing a short circuit on the logic board.
Near the audio jack area, the CR852 capacitor pad was severely burned, creating a clear short-circuit path. The board could not power on properly.
Work Performed
Removed the short circuit by drilling through the board (bypassing the short path) in the CR852 area.
Current Status
• When powered on, the screen shows support.apple.com/mac/restore....10-20-2025, 11:15 PM - Loading...
