HP Pavilion 15t-eg100 - corrupt bios

Hello, I'm working on an HP Pavilion 15t-eg100, part number 43F48AV. Upon attempting to power-on, the caps lock blinks twice and it shuts off. HP indicates this blink code means corrupt bios. (The owner stated it worked when they last shut it down, but failed to boot next time they went to use it.)

I've attempted the BIOS recovery steps published by HP (e.g. ctrl-v, ctrl-b, ctrl-esc) without success. (Including creating a BIOS recovery usb flash drive).

Attached is a dump of the contents of the GigaDevice 25B127DSIG chip (dumped using TL866A programmer, using settings for Winbond W25Q128BV).

The motherboard is a DA0G7HMB8H0 Rev H. (HP part number M74949-601)

The latest bios for this laptop is available from HP at: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp143...0/sp143436.exe (I think it's the 0898A.bin file).

I've searched these forums but could not find a thread for an HP with this chip with a corrupted bios.

I'm hoping someone take the DMI info from the dump and incorporate it into the latest bin file from HP please?

Here's your New BIOS, it's a Virgin BIOS from HP with your DMI and Windows Key.

Re: HP Pavilion 15t-eg100 - corrupt bios

Thank you both for the prompt responses. Sorry for the late reply, I've been away from the bench for much of the day. I tried both files provided (they had different SHA hashes, so I thought if one didn't work maybe the other would). Neither worked. The laptop attempts to POST 4 times (i.e. the power light comes on, then off for 5 seconds, then on for 5 seconds, then off for 5 seconds, etc) and on the 4th time when the power light comes on - this is when the caps lock blinks twice and everything turns off and stays off.

the laptop probably has another problem or you write it with errors..

Re: HP Pavilion 15t-eg100 - corrupt bios

Just a quick follow-up: Resistance of cpu supply inductors to ground is 0 to 0.1ohms. Inspected all MLCC's for cracks under microscope - no problems found. Injected 0.8volts at coils, eventually current maxes out at 1.6amps at 0.8volts. Viewed top and bottom of board with thermo-camera - no hot or warm spots found. Suspect internal layer shorted (which may have enough thermal mass to not heat up enough to be detectable).

I don't think there's much more that can be done at this point to repair this (at least not cost effectively).

I'd like to thank peste and hardware1 for their fast responses!

I've made a donation to the forum as this place is such a valuable resource for me. And, on those occasions, when advice I've asked for (or found through searching) has fixed the problem - it has saved me a motherboard or an entire laptop. To anyone reading this, a donation to this site is MUCH better than having to replace a motherboard or laptop!
