My name is David Salcedo, I’m from Barranquilla, Colombia. I recently joined this forum because I’m working on repairing a Microsoft Surface device and I need some help with the firmware.

Here are the details of my board/device:

• Model: Microsoft Surface Pro 6 1796
• SN: 064621293753
• BIOS chip: Winbond 25Q128JVPQ
• Problem: I forgot bios password

If anyone has a clean BIOS/firmware file for this board, I would really appreciate your support.

Hi peste,

The original chip was lost because it was password-locked, so I bought a pre-programmed replacement chip from eBay and soldered it directly (I didn’t program it myself since I didn’t have a programmer at that time).

At first, the replacement BIOS worked fine without a password, but it showed the red padlock disabled, which I assumed was because some system information from the original BIOS was missing. Over time, after Windows and firmware updates, the BIOS password came back again.

Now I would like to know if someone can provide me with a clean BIOS dump (.bin) for the Surface Pro 6, or if it’s possible to generate one. What additional information would be required from my device in order to create or adapt a clean BIOS for it? Or if is neccesary to read the current bios (Does'nt matter it's not original).

Thanks for your help. I really want to recover my Surface if possible.
