I've got and HP 14-R with motherboard compal la-a995p rev 2.0 with no power. PU301 (RT8243A) is getting hot when the charger is connected, and 3.3v or 5v are not present. PL303 has a resistance to GND of 5ohms. Please, i need help on fixing this motherboard if possible. i'll attach the schematics

As hot as Shakira ?PU301 (RT8243A) is getting hot when the charger is connected,
Remove all power / no battery.
Lift up one leg of PL303 -> meter in resistance mode -> check the resistance to ground of BOTH sides of PL303 but on the circuit board pads.
We want to know if the shorting event is on the producer or consumer side of this power rail.
Do not power up with the coil lifted.Attached Files -

After lifting one leg, before the coil there's a resistance of 575kohms BEFORE, and a resistance of 5ohms AFTER the coil. Seems like the short comes from the 3VALWP rail.
Edit: i've decided to desolder PJ302, as pin 5 of PU301 is also connected to the 3VALWP rail, so we can be totally sure there's no problem with the chip (for now)Last edited by ReparaPC; 10-28-2022, 12:13 PM.Comment

Consider to remove PC316 as a quick test to see if the fault is with this nearby cap.
Next, if you have a lab power supply -> dial it up to 0v8 (we want to remain below the lowest voltage rail on the board on purpose).
Then attach the red probe of the power supply onto +3VALWP and black of the power supply to ground. With the voltage at 0v8, the CPU is protected in case their is a leaky mosfet along the way that may reach the CPU power rail(s).
Do you see any part heating up with this voltage injection? IPA on the part will also help to determine if the component is faulty with this method of troubleshooting.Comment

I don't have a lab power supply, just getting started with repairing electronics.

I have an ASUS ROG Strix- G513IH-HN008, motherboard G513-6050A3249301- MB-A04 (A4)
When I received the device, the device has no function. After an investigation, I found that the PWM CONTROLLER RT6575B (U6100) is getting warm and there is a short circuit at the 3V3 output. This normally supplies 3V3 for the embedded controller IT5571E-128 (U301). When measuring and analyzing with a thermal imaging camera, I found that some components are damaged: SLG4E42553VTR (U8500), IT5571E-128 (U301), LAN RTL8111H (U450), LOGIC 74LVC1G08GW (U1900), RT6575B (U6100) All these components are on... -
Hi,
it's a PoE camera and it stopped working. Using thermal image I identified failing component U22 marked as 16AF which seems to be buck convertor TI https://www.alldatasheet.net/datashe...62569DBVR.html. I took it out and It is inteed shorted on the output. However, after I took it out, the resistance between the output pads (on the board) still shows 190ohm, is that bit low?
Another issue is, seems to me I must be missing one of the tiny resistors R810 that should make up the voltage devider for the buck convertor. Honestly I did this months ago, I cannot...07-14-2025, 04:30 AM -

This is ATK 1604AC i don't have any datasheet or schematic on the laptop. I couldn't find any info about the equivalent for this IC. My friend accidentally broke it while he's applying liquid metal on CPU. The liquid metal splash into the ATK IC pins and he turned it on without cleaning and now there's no vcore voltage.
Maybe someone here know's what's the most common IC equivalent for this?... -
The treadmill was working fine, one day the belt snapped and after checking the unit I also noticed that the display is now showing the Controller comm error. So I opened it up and the treadmill had two boards. One is a power supply board and the other is the motor controller. I noticed there was a mouse nest, so I took power supply board out, cleaned it up, replaced the big capacitor and that did nothing. Then I took apart the motor controller and cleaned that up, and when I plugged it in, it started right up. I thought I fixed it. But when the belt arrived, I installed it and tried to power...
