ASUS UM425 power on, but no screen

    Hello sir,
my laptop can be power on, but the screen doesnt post.
I use flir camera ,then I see 3 ,then I see 3 components are overheated。
I think it may be the reason。
    THANKS A LOT

    Hi.

    1) Asus is in your backyard Give them h*ll for not sharing the schematics for their logic boards. Miss my travels to Taipei, Mr. Brown Coffee and Taitronics.

    2) the first picture of the hot capacitor is of concern. The others are power inductors to support high current switching regulators which will be normally hot in operation.

    3) place your meter in dc volts mode. With great caution, measure the voltage to ground of each inductor. Each inductor will be linked to a local switching buck regulator ( accepts a high voltage as input, will output a low voltage as output ). Checking to be sure that each regulator is working with a good voltage.

Red meter on the coil leg, black to ground (shield is ok).

Post your measurements of the voltages.

    4) on the cap that is very hot, what are the smd markings from the top side of the IC? From your details, we can find a datasheet and determine which capacitor is likely on your logic board.

Post a closer pic of this area of the logic board so we can know which pin of the IC mates with the capacitor.

    5) what is the history of the logic board? Any liquid spills? Just failed one day?
