    Dead Lenovo V-15 ADA

    Hello,
Need help. I‘m working with dead Lenovo V-15 ADA (motherboard GV451&GV551 NM-D151). The laptop is quite new, mfg date 2020-10. Can‘t find any schematics for it. One of the chip LV5028 had a burned spot on it. Before ordering it from China, decided to do some measurements with chip removed. And now I‘m not sure will the new chip solve the problem. There are suspicious readings (chip desoldered):
    Pin 5 – 0.4Ohm
    Pins 7+8 – 5Ohm
    Pins 17+18 – 0.5Ohm
    Pins 12+13+14+15 - 4.6Ohm
Found some datasheet of this chip (attached). Are theese readings normal? Or the problem is not only the chip?

Remove PL500 & PL502 and re-measure the resistance on pins you mentioned. If resistance improves significantly, the ic is likely ok and problem is on the load side.

Nothing changes with 500 and 502 removed. These lines are feeding the CPU, right? Maybe then such a low resistance is normal?

By saying nothing changes I mean there is low resistance on the load side.

Post the measured resistance values from your testing.

All values are at the first post. Measured with chip removed:
              Pin 5 – 0.4Ohm
              Pins 7+8 – 5Ohm
              Pins 17+18 – 0.5Ohm
              Pins 12+13+14+15 - 4.6Ohm
Removing jumpers doesn't change anything all values remain the same to the load side.

When I see a simultaneous short on +1V and +3V rails, the PCH section of the CPU is usually the cause. Confirm with 1V voltage injection and thermal camera. Board will be good as a donor only.

@reformatt is 100% right in assuming that.

Injected 1V, it draws 1.8Amps and one corner of the CPU gets slightly warm (only visible with thermal cam, can't feel with the finger). So, it's dead CPU

it turns on include fan but no post, try to flash bios from the bios forum but still same.

                      any one can advise ?

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?

                        Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

                        Lenovo Legion Y540-17IRH 81Q4 dead IT8226E-192 chip
                        by geotox
Hi, after a short circuit during power cord plug-in the IT8226E-192 chip on my Lenovo Legion Y540-17IRH 81Q4 died. I'm trying to order a replacement for it. There are some similar chips available online, but they are not 1-to-1 identical to my chip. For example, I see there's a 1921BXA chip available for sale, while mine is 1932BXA. Do you guys know if there's any compatibility table available which I can use to see what chips are compatible? Should I just order a similar chip and try it? Will I need to program the chip before installing, or will the laptop do it for me?

                        Thanks...

Lenovo laptop does not turn on, what does this number mean in a BIOS chip?

Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

                        I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...

Lenovo t440s nm-a052 dead bios chip
                        by kuraimangetsu
                        Hi guys
i got a dead t440s the bios chip is "W25Q128BV"
testing with multimeter all good as i think
but i get a 0.052 on the 1th PIN of the chip

if i remove the bios i get the same 0.052 with the adapter removed
and 0.024 when i plug the adapter.

                        so what do you think?

Lenovo Thinkpad L540 - name of the I/O chip that control fan and sensors?
                        by insomniacno1
                        Hi,

Anyone here know the name and model number of the Super I/O chip in the L540 20AU (HM86 EXPRESS CHIPSET)?

I need the information to solve an issue in Linux Mint, where fan is not detected correctly.

If anyone know the exact name of the sensor that show fan speed it would also be great.

I tried looking on my motherboard but can't see it without taking the laptop apart and I really don't want to do that. I asked Lenovo, but they are not answering. I searched google for photos of the motherboard but they were too blurry to read anything, according...
