c660 la-6841p no power ic heat up

    hi friends
i get laptop topshiba c660 pwwaa la-6841p no power
i check PU330 is heat up i changed it 4 times no new always heat up quickly
    i check pQ331 . pQ332 . pQ351 and pQ352 good
change io ene 3 time same problem
after i connected adaptor pin 16 in pu330 be short for 30 second
and after 30 sec be good no short
    pin 17 in pu330 ( VERGE5 ) is always short
I REMOVE IC FOUND PIN17 SHORT TOO
    ANY HELP PLEASE

Is PU330 still heating up ?

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode (2k scale is ok).

Check the resistance to ground @ inductor PL332, pin # 1. Red meter probe on pin #1; Black meter probe on ground (shield is ok).

Repeat the same test @ inductor PL352, pin # 2.

Post your measurements. Checking for a low resistance which will likely indicate a shorted cap on the rail.

Also be sure of your soldering of this part -> flux it well and hot air till the part starts to swim on the SMD PCB pads. Then gently nudge the corners of this part till it moves away and then should bounce back, naturally. Repeat this 2-3 times and this should allow for a proper bonding of the solder pads and can be used to remove solder shorts under the device. You are making the IC 'dance' like Louis says in his videos on youtube.

      thanks for replay pro
i thest all cap and res on motherboard no short found
      pin 17 in pu330 ( VERGE5) still short
      pu330 heating up no new
      pl332 is 250 ohm
      pl352 254 ohm
just pl402 is 16 ohm and short

Re: c660 la-6841p no power ic heat up

PL402 is a low voltage rail at +1v05 so the low resistance reading is acceptable and not considered to be a short.

        Still concerned about PU330.

Remove all power, meter in resistance mode (2k scale).

What is the resistance to ground of pin 17, PU330 ?

Desolder one side of PL332 inductor. Then check the resistance to ground of each side of this inductor.

What is the resistance to ground on PL332, pin # 1? Pin #2 ?

Do not power up with parts removed.

Do the same testing with one leg of PL352 lifted. If easier, remove these coils off the logic board.

To me, the resistance to ground for both of these rails is low and indicates a possibility of a shorted cap.

        Post all of your measurements.

          Moto G84 short after heat
          by ludovik
          Hello everyone,
i was reballing the power manger of a moto g84, after applying heat i tried to power on and it wouldn’t.
i injected 1.5v to some capacitor that seem in short because both side beep if tested.
          when i inject i feel the cpu burning;
since the cpu is exactly on the other side of the board, is that possible that the heat from the reballing damaged the cpu? do you know where i can find schematics or what can i do?
i know this is not enough to explain the situation so if you need any other info ask me please!
Thank you very much in advance

MacBook Pro 14" A2442 Short on PPBUS_AON but no short present when injecting voltage!
          by Stephen
I check PPBUS_AON and there is a short present on the line, the computer shows a short when testing for short to ground, so when I inject voltage into the line, I get 0AMPS so no short is showing up. I have replaced a blown cap on this board that exploded and tested for the short and it is now removed. Any suggestions? I tested voltage at the line when the fuses are connected and I am getting 1.2 Volts at the line.

Help me find the short circuit on this WORKING Nvidia GTX1650
          by aaronkatrini
          Hi all,

Recently picked up this GTX1650 at a local flea market for a low price and wanted to use it on my secondary PC. I first tested the card and saw the fan spin for a split second and then nothing. Immediately I thought of a short circuit. Disassembled and found a shorted SMD capacitor, injected voltage into it (1V/4A) and two Mosfets got hot immediately (QN3103 & QN3107). Desoldered these Mosfets and the card turned back to life.

Bought replacements from Aliexpress and replaced them afterwards. Tried the card but still the saw the fan spin for a split second...

9th Gen Dell Optiplex Micro PC motherboard repair: Short Circuit?
          by Geeker007
Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...
