MacBook Pro aA1398 no brightness control on Big Sur

I having an issue where in Big Sur, the screen brightness doesn't work on the F2/F3 keys or in the display preferences of my mid 2014 A1398. If I boot from a High Sierra flash drive, it works fine. I've seen others commenting on this on the internet as well. It seems that if you have Big Sur 11.2.3 or lower it works. Anything higher there is no control.
It seems like the display panel itself may have been dropped from Apple's support list. While the part number appears to be valid, I don't have a history on this computer. Just curious if anyone else has come across this.

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
    by envym
    Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

Trying to control Philips backlight manually with PWM — brightness increases with frequency...?
    by ohren
I raised the question of whether PWM on the power board "dim" pin would be a reasonable assumption for controlling the backlight of a Philips TV (55put6101/12): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...d-tv-backlight. I didn't receive any insights there so I went ahead and tried it.

    The setup is basically:

    Rpi3 hardware PWM → 220 Ohm → NPN transistor → dim pin

Transistor is switching the 3.5 V supply on the power board....

    Hi,

Firstly after landing it was working fine, but suddenly it shuted down and started bootlooping to the apple sign. I managed to run it normally throught SMC reset, but problem was going back untill SMC reset stopped working. Now Macbook is bootlooping in normal start, I can't go to recovery, I tried internet recovery, but after fully loaded download bar it switches off.

I have a 2020 Macbook Pro A2289 and after many attempts managed to get it into DFU mode, using my older 2017 A1706 Macbook Pro (Running Ventura 13.7.8). However, when attempting 'Restore', it fails at step 4 of 4, showing the following error:

    - "The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xA (10)]
    - "The system cannot be restored on this device. Failed to create new state machine for restore [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore - 0xFB1 (4017)]
