i ordered a brand new secondary board (with the audio IC) and audio is still not working.

Post close up pics of the audio connector that is on the logic board.

Have you inspected the flat ribbon cable that mates the connectors to this board? Be sure that the cable is firmly inserted into the respective connectors.

Are the contacts of this bridge cable clean? Wipe it with IPA and a cotton swap.

For those who are looking for a solution for the Sound is not working after replacing Sound chip or Sound card daughter PCB Circuit,
Try to boot laptop with ubuntu Mint (which can boot from usb drive itself without installing into laptop). Then shut down and again boot with windows. you can see Realtek drivers are installed.
In my case it was Asus X555LDB laptop running on windows 10 pro 22h2
Replaced I/O board, HDD driver which has sound card in it and internal speakers.
I've tried every software solution there is like editing registry, updating Realtek drivers, adding legacy hardware using device manager etc. but nothing worked only this !
