When CAPS lock is working, it may be one or more faults. (1) It may be that the LCD is bad; try using another LCD or any external monitor. (2) It could be that your memory module(s) may be bad. If the laptop has 2 RAM modules, try swapping and then test each one separately. I've found on several occasions that bad memory modules can cause various degrees of issues. If you know how to test DC voltage using multimeter, power the laptop and test some capacitors on the RAM modules for appropriate voltages. Take your time and send feedback so as to know what else to diagnose so as to assist you repair the laptop.
