    I found the issue!

R7052 was open to 2.5Kohms. I'm thinking that, correct me if I'm wrong, that created a voltage between CSOP and CSON due to C7050.

That voltage was telling U7000 that there was a problem with battery charging current and that it should shut down.

      1) Good job !!

      2) Can you post the schematic for your 820-2530b logic board? My database does not offer the 'b' version.

      3) My 820-2530-A schematic shows that R7031 (CSOP) & R7047 (CSON) are used for the current sense for the battery rail.

So yes you have the right idea in that the voltage on CSOP should be very close to the voltage on CSON. The current sense resistor between CSOP & CSON is used to measure the voltage difference (drop) between these 2 points. Let us say that if CSON connection to U7000 was open then the logic inside U7000 will report 'excessive load since the voltage is much lower on CSON than CSOP' = too much current for the design to be working properly so for safety, shut it all down.

Ideally there should be a very little voltage drop between any IN / OUT contacts of a current sense resistor. The current sense resistor is always a small resistance so that it does not heat up (too much) when the circuit is operating normally. The designer of the power supply will select the resistor and know in advance the relationship between the current draw (load) and the voltage drop across the component. Again, open circuit = too much load = shut it down.

Sorry I forgot to mention that my board wasn't the same as OP. I had a 820-2936-B.

Here are the schematics and boardview for it.

MacBook Air turns on without battery connected, no green or orange light comes on, I connect the battery and it shows battery with lightning and it restarts constantly.

MacBook Pro M1 A2338 256/16 820-2020 Turns On but No Charge, stuck 5V

            Hello all,

I bought this MacBook brand new at launch. I have taken care of it since new and it suddenly failed on me recently.. it began to refuse to charge.

I first checked all the basic things before opening it, to no avail.

I have now opened it and taken the logic board out. I did a visual inspection and found no visible liquid damage or corrosion, or exploded caps, burnt components, etc. Cleaned the usb c connectors.

Here are my measurements thus far:

            PBBUS_AON: 12V

            PP5V_S2: 5.3V

            PP3v8_AON:...

MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Turns on functions then turns off when I plug in USB C cable
            by Stephen
MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Turns on functions then turns off when I plug in USB C cable to reset the computer. I disconnect the battery fully and then reconnect it and it won't turn back on. After letting it sit for a day I plug the battery back up, and the MagSafe 3 cable and it powers on and stays ons, once I plug in a USB C cable into the port closes to the MagSafe port it turns off and the Amber light turns off and won't turn on. No water damage, nothing, I want to do a DFU restore to wipe the computer since the customer stated they did an update and ever since it just decided to not work...

Macbook Pro A1278 intermittent orange charge light
            by tccyo22
Hi there, I've got a Macbook Pro A1278 board code 820-2936-B in which I have a very strange charging issue.

Backstory is when I plugged the charger in, it would give a green light and swap to orange like normal but after a few seconds would go off to no light, laptop still powered on and functioned fine.

So naturally I replaced the ISL chip first which made no difference so I also removed and reballed the SMC. This seemed to fix the issue for about an hour until I was back to square one again.

Decided to then take an SMC from another board, reball that...

A2141 MacBook Pro 16" Turns on but no life, holds charge.
            by Stephen
Customer computer came in, did a DFU revive, no luck, gives error, swapped out battery with two known working batteries still no luck. Board gets 20Volts, raises up to 1Amp then restarts, track pad clicks etc. Tried DFU restore, informed the customer that data recovery is most likely not possible since it didn't give us a revive and DFU restore was the next method to save the board, however it looks like not even DFU Restore is working as well. What could be causing this? I am assuming this is the infamous A2141 flaw that has the flawed Data lines that fail? Any suggestions would be great...
