Hi, I have L530 and original battery not in best shape, but working, I tried two batteries and with both I got message that laptop wont charge battery cause it's not genuine. Laptop have ancient bios 1.06. And I would like to try and flash bios to see if there is any change, but I cant cause you need battery for it. Does someone know how to bypass bettery check for this laptop. I google a little but didn't manage to find anything useful. Thanks.

The laptop does not work with only the adapter (no battery) ?

Re: L530 lenovo flashing without battery
There is a mod for some old thnkpad models to remove the battery whitelist but this one isn`t covered.I don`t know if there`s any other mods out there that might work.

Unfortunately, there are a small number of thinkpads with a model number from the "xx30" series that are using a completely different EC CPU and a different BIOS update strategy. Thus they are not currently able to be patched. This is known to be the case for at least the L430, L530 and E330.Last edited by SMDFlea; 10-07-2021, 09:49 AM.

Re: L530 lenovo flashing without battery
It worked, his battery from T430 which is extended one ss working, and laptop is not reporting that it's not geniue and charging battery normally.
I flash bios from initial 1.06 to 2.76 now, and clear CMOS, and configure bios. But still this original battery when I insert it said that it's not geniune and won't charge it, I don't understand.
Found problem.
I google FRU from battery she fits in but, it's for L410, L412, L420, L421, L510, L512, L520, T410, T410i, T420, T510, T510i, T520, W510, W520, and not for L530. Someone that had this laptop before put original battery in but with FRU that is not compatible with this L530 laptop.
This L530 needs FRU 45N1001 battery which looks the same as this up model FRU 42T4791, but this 45N1001 is only for L430 L530 T430 T530 W530 imagine that, f.... lenovo.Last edited by Thermaltake; 10-07-2021, 10:56 AM.

Re: L530 lenovo flashing without battery
You can patch EC online (without need to flash) to enable non-genuine battery or battery from older NB series: https://github.com/leecher1337/thinkpad-Lx30-ec
