In your case, you just need to change the serial number. either unsolder the nand and reprogram it or otherwise with a purple cable[/QUOTE]

There are a lot of sources out there who say they can provide the unlocking service for a fee? just wondering how legit they are and if anyone has tried any of these services with any success. I am reading that Apple has blocked a lot of the free services including jailbreaking?

The method at post #25 is the best way,ive done it.It will then only work as a wifi model. If you can`t remove the resistor with your soldering iron just flick it off with a blade or small driver.Connect to itunes and restore (wifi model) firmware

Are they legit? I am looking for the easy method since my technical skill are limited

Once you removed these 3 resisters did you have to change the SI#? when connected to itunes and restore do it find wifi model firmware automatically? The video is showing connected to a software 3uTool is that required?
