Lenovo X201 shuts down after few seconds

Hi, I got x201 Lenovo, and it powers up just first time I insert AC in it, and shuts down after few seconds no matter if it's in BIOS or on boot screen.
And after that I can't turn it On again, I need to unplug AC and plug it back and then it powers up but shuts down after few seconds again. Any clue what that can be ? I got it like that.

    Hi. Could be many things.

What is the history of the unit?

    Any liquid damage ?

Over time, capacitors go bad that can cause these symptoms. Could be bad / brittle solder joints from the rather high currents of the switching power supply rails.

    Try the following:

    1) power down the unit. Remove the battery from the logic board. Then apply your power adapter. Turn it on. Does it turn on and remain on? If yes, battery is a suspect. If the issue continues, something else is a factor. Keep the battery removed.

    2) Remove the power adapter. Place your meter in resistance mode. Check the resistance to ground on each coil on the board. If the resistance is too low, there could be a badcap that is causing a high current event to the local switching regulator which leads to a shutdown or chirp mode to protect itself from damage. Could also be the coil itself with a poor connection to the logic board. We have seen hairline cracks in the solder of such coils.

    3) Power adapter is original / suitable for this unit? If the adapter is underrated for its current, the power supply may be turning itself off as the target is demanding too much current. I believe that you need a 65W or higher to power this laptop but please check your specs for the unit.

Report the findings from the above testing.

Hi, I got this laptop like that so I don't know the history of it. From outside and inside there is no liquid damage.

I will disassemble it when I find some time and check physically motherboard for any damage or burns.

I already remove battery and try without it, no changes I even try few adapters 65W and 90W which I know are tested and OK, and still same thing.

I even noticed that without turning the laptop On, when I connect charger(without battery in it) led indicator turn on like there is no battery which is OK, and that green led beside yellow battery one and it turns itself off after few seconds. And happend when laptop is Off, it's like same thing happend when it's On and when it's Off. And after that happend you can't turn it On again, only If I disconnect AC and reconnect again.

I will try to measure it, but I don't have time for it, so I will try to ask someone to do that for me.

Lenovo Legion 5 17ach6h shuts off after 70 seconds.

        Hello guys. I have a legion 5 17ach6h with Ryzen 7 5600h and RTX3060.
It was working perfectly fine but the cpu was overheating so i decided to replace thermal paste. I bought one from local hardware store and replcaed. it looked fine then the fan started to spin at the full speed after about 1 minute and then immediately shut off after 10 seconds. Then I though if i have done something wrong, so i cleaned up everything with IPA and put new thermal paste. but the issue was still there. After that, I came across this article where he had similar issue and he was able to solve it by replacing...

        Hello together,

I am hoping for some tips here to repair a notebook.

        The notebook has following issue:
After starting the notebook it shut down after a few seconds.
Sometimes it is possible to enter the bios but then after, another few seconds it shuts down also.
The time until shutdown varies slightly.

        What I've tried so far:
        - cmos cleared
        - removed all components that are not essential for motherboard testing including keyboard and touchpad
        - ram exchanged
        - same behaviour with power supply or battery...

Hello. I bought a faulty Lenovo ideapad 3, but it turns out the 3Valw buck converter burnt a hole through the board. I was able to clean it up, and remove all the shorts. I now can power the 3.3v rails from a bench power suppy while connecting the laptop to its psu, and I get the additional 5valw, 1.8v, and 1.05v, form what I can tell in the schematics, those are the only 4 voltages I should see before turning on, and they are present. When I hit the power button, the power indicator on the left side turns on (not the one on the power button), stays on for about 12 seconds, then turns off for...

I have a really weird problem, this motherboard was working normally, someday it just started and all fans were running but didn't want to post, tried resetting bios, checking CPU and it was getting warm tried external gpu, flashed bios with programmer, but same problem.
Next day after several attempts the board goes into protection mode, no more staying on, I turn on the PSU fans starts directly turning, it used to not start until I press the pwr button, now it starts directly and fans spins, and shuts off after 3 seconds sometimes less, then won't start again unless I unplug the PSU and...

Lenovo Y530 shuts off after few seconds
        by unimatrix93
Hello and happy new year everyone!

        I have a Lenovo Y530 (NM-B701 rev1) notebook with a frustrating problem.

It's shuts iftself off after pressing the power button. I have no POST screen, only power led and keyboard light. Same symphtomes on AC and on Battery.

        Things I tried:
        - General cleaning and repasting, reseating RAM modules
        - Reset CMOS
        - Reprogram BIOS with a programmer.
        - Checking main rails with Multimeter.

Only suspicious thing I found was that the dual MOSFET on the 20V rail had 25.5V, so I replaced...
