    Acer e5-576g no cpu voltage

    Good day.

I've got an Acer E5-576G with no cpu voltage present when unit is turned on. Blue led light indicator is turned on and cpu fan spins. This happens when memory module is present in slot.

    Scenario A

-When I turn on laptop WITH memory module inserted, cpu vcore shows 0v on PL3, PL4 and PL5 (page36) And voltage is present on vgpu core on PL7 and PL8 (page38) At this state, laptop turns on with no display.

    Scenario B

-When I turn on laptop WITHOUT memory module. cpu vcore is now present on PL3, PL4 and PL5. But vgpu core on PL7 and PL8 goes to 0v.

So there maybe something connected to both of this that is faulty. But it only happens when laptop is on S0 state.

Wondering what should I do next. Thanks

What is the Ram coil voltage-with ram inserted, without ram?? Vcore will come only if proper ram supply is there. Since with ram, no vcore-i doubt ram voltage is not proper. I assume you have tried a known good ram module. Bios Flashed??

Good day my friend. Ram voltage is 1.35v with or without ram installed. And yes I tried different working ram.

One thing I also noticed is that +1.35v gfx voltage on PL2 is also 0v when ram is not installed. (page39) I has 1.35v when ram is installed.

GFX voltage is not supposed to be there without Ram.

I see. well most likely there's a short either with the gfx or ram supply area that has conflict between cpu vcore. I don't know if injecting voltage will help since short happens after powering up. Finding the component that's heating up may be difficult because as of now, my best bet is using thermal camera which i do not have. Maybe i will try to remove gfx coil and ram coils too.

I think this mb can be converted to UMA by removing graphics power coil. Can u mention the mb marking to be sure?? That way you can rule out graphics issue. No pint removing coils un-necesaarily unless we find the fault. I still suspect something wrong in ram circuit based on symptoms as you have not provided any measurements.
