ipad 5 A2126 dead no charging

dear all,

i have an iPad mini 5 x repaired from another shop.
the case is dead and no charging. when i opened the is a missing component. you can see from the picture that i attached.

does anyone here have a schematic or boardview for this ipad mini 5? because i was searching everywhere but couldnt find it.

i found it from ifixit.com it is U2 charging ic 1612A1
i will try to put it back and let u all know later..

Cool that you found the p/n.

This TRISTAR chip has different versions so be sure to get the one that is compatible. The highest revision should work here as well.

On this note, did the previous repair shop not inform the client that this part is now missing?

I think such shops should be flamed on public forums for poor practice. I know that we got burnt on Ebay by an 'innocent reseller' where a San Diego shop took in for a repair review and stole a mix of parts off the board we ended up.

Will flame them soon. That is pure theft.

Wait! That cannot be part as the 1612A1 = 36 balls (6*6).

Please review my boardview of the same PCB.

The landing pads are more than 36 balls.

Best to go to the client -> ask which shop worked on this -> ask the thieves which part they stole or 'attempted to repair'.

In my macbook logic board, the T2, ISL9240 (what we bought it for) + CD3215 devices were all stolen.

We are studying the operation of the ISL9240 but this store helped themselves to the parts and told the customer, the computer cannot be repaired.

To locate the proper p/n for this missing component:

1) locate a schematic which appears to be more rare than Elvis sightings

2) ask another tech / customer who has this logic board to take a zoomed up picture of this component and share here

3) Ask vendors on Aliexpress / Alibaba / a good repair shop in China. I think Master Liu who runs repair courses and has written books / youtube videos on low level repairs. My bet is that he will know this part #. Ask Alex @ Northridgefix.com

4) ask the thief who helped themselves to the component

1612A1 is 7x8 (56) balls
the problem now is the dot on the chip that indicate for first pad is opposite position with the phoneboard boardview.

this ipad mini is from the repair shop that i cooporate with so i dont know where is the repair shop that stole the parts...

Suggest to find any schematic with this tristar ic.

Then review which balls are ground.

Locate the same ground pattern on your logic board with a multimeter to learn the proper orientation of the chip.

just found out that small ic power is shorted..the price for this ic is quite high so i have to confirm with the customer first
