    Asus X512FF - No video

    Hi,

This board had no power. I checked the 5v and 3.3v rails and both were not present.

In a visual inspection, I found a burned ceramic capacitor under the SSD insulation nearby the audio IC. After replacing the cap I had 19v + 5v + 3.3v again but they were oscillating, so I decided to cleanup the board and after that the voltages became stable and the laptop now turns on but with no video because DDR4 voltage is the only one that is still missing.
I found that the source of the QM3056M6 ( wich I believe belongs to the 19v rail) and ground are shorted, but even after injecting 1V / 2A in the source, with voltage dropping to 0.04v consuming all the 2A nothing heated.

I didn't found any boardview for this model, so if anyone have any experience with this board, I would appreciate it.

Ok. Disregard the injection test 'cos by tracing the board I see that's normal behavior in that point. I'm kinda re-learning some stuff...

But I still would like know what voltage should I have on that mosfets

Unfortunately it doesn't seems, there are Schematics available.

So would you again make a good Pic of the whole Board with Resistance and Voltage measured of all coils to ground? Especially the RAM Coil. Maybe we'll find Something suspicious and can answer the Questions.

Thanks! I'll post the coils resistance and voltage ASAP.

For now, I made an identification of the main ICs involved for a better understanding of the board.

RT8248A is your memory controller. You can download the datasheet of this IC and check voltage on all pins.

Re: Asus X512FF - No video

            Well, this is what happened...

As I said earlier, the board was in a stage of turning on but with no DRAM voltage, thus no video. Also it was turning on by itself everytime I turned it off. I had to disconnect DC/battery everytime.

The gate of QM3056M plus the positive of the first 330uf 2.5 elco and ceramic caps nearby were shorted to GND according to continuity test and I repeated the test about 5 times, maybe more.

I desoldered all that area to test the components outside the board and all of them were good, then resoldered but same as before. Short, no DRAM voltage and no video.

I tried reflashing the BIOS but nothing changed...

I basically tested all the caps and ICs in their resistances and voltages across the board manually, one by one, but no sign of issues.

Since there weren't many possibilities left, I decided to insist in the first coil area and resolder everything again but this time the short was gone. Even so, I wasn't feeling too much excited about it.

So I went to test the RAM voltage and voilá! The 1.2V was finally there in the coil!!!

I plugged everything in and the laptop turned on and booted to OS just fine.
I even ran some heavy stress tests and the board is running rock solid.

So, would this be one of those cases when some residual electricity across the board can cause some kind of temporary short or some other phenomenum?

Anyhow, I'd like to thank @Sephir0th and @mcplslg123 for trying to help. I appreciate it!

Re: Asus X512FF - No video

Glad the problem was resolved. static electricity can sometimes make the mosfets unstable. For this, it is useful to disassemble the motherboard completely and keep it waiting for a day.
I'm not happy to be so strong. because it's not humanly

Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                    by DynaxSC
                    Hi,

I have this very stubborn ASUS mobo on the bench, and I already face the wall with it. It just refuses to POST, although everything seems to be OK.

                    The situation looks like this:

After connecting the board to the power supply on Nuvoton (SLP_S3#, pin 64), the Low signal (50 ohm resistance) appears immediately. PWRNTN# signal goes through Nuvoton to the chipset (confirmed after removing the chipset). The following conditions are then met for the chipset to generate the SLP_S3# signal:

                    1. RTC oscillates normally (32.768KHz).

                    Hi.

Can any one help identify in a Asus board X512FF a missing component?

I cant find any schematics or diagram. The problem is that the machine doesn't charge or work from battery, but it is detected.

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING — Board not powering on properly
                    by ShadowAi12
                    Hi,
I recently bought an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING motherboard that was listed as "dead, not powering on." However, it does show some signs of life. I've performed several basic measurements and would like to share the results.
                    • The board enters a "ready to power on" state after plugging in the PSU.
                    • Pressing the power button increases power draw.
                    • Sometimes, touching the RSMRST_L pad with a multimeter probe causes the board to shut off and return to standby.
                    Measurements:
(taken after pressing the power button, while the board is attempting to start)
