Hey guys, hoping someone out there with some more experience than me can help. I got an ASUS GL502VSK, It was working previously but in an attempt to solder a battery to the board (connector was ripped off by previous owner, missing pads) the IT8995VG-128 chip was fried. The computer was completely functional apart from the battery before this point. I did voltage injection, realized that the chip was getting hot. I then sourced some new chips off Ali and replaced it. Now it powers on but does not post, full fan spin and blank screen. I then reflashed main bios chip to make sure it was not corrupt. Flashing the main bios did not change anything, still fan spin and no display. There is a debug port near the chip, so I assume it needs programming. I have scoured the internet and cant find anyone that has had to reprogram it, so I was hoping someone could give me some guidance. I have very little experience when it comes to programming, but I do have a ch341a programmer if that matters. Really hoping that someone can help me revive it, I appreciate all the time and effort everyone on here puts in to helping those of us that are less knowledgeable. Thanks!

Re: GL502VSK Programming IT8995VG-128
You need a more specific programmer for this one, like Vertyanov or SVOD3. The EC will be programmed via keyboard connector, while soldered onboard. But this is all i know about.
Maybe you're lucky, if you try another bios. Check DPWROK_EC for Voltage pls.Comment

Re: GL502VSK Programming IT8995VG-128
I flashed it with a cheap ch341a programmer off amazon. I had trouble flashing it on board with the clip so I soldered the bios chip to the programmer. I pulled a bios dump from the forum, other people confirmed that it was working on the same model of laptop that I have. I will try leaving it on for longer and see if it posts. Thanks for your inputComment

Re: GL502VSK Programming IT8995VG-128
Thanks for the reply, I apologize for taking a day to respond. I am very busy with school right now. I did see some other forums that mentioned the keyboard connector, you have definitely put me on the right track. The Vertyanov programmer looks like it should be able to program the ic. I think I should be able to reball and solder on the old chip, then use the programmer to copy the old chips contents to the new chip. Thanks so much for your helpComment

Re: GL502VSK Programming IT8995VG-128
You don't need to solder or touch ITE chip
Just use a keyboard connector strip to connect with keyboard connector on motherboard to attach with vertyanov programmer to programme itComment

Re: GL502VSK Programming IT8995VG-128
Ok, thank you. Do you have any idea where I could find the programming for the chip? could it possibly be stored in a bios dump? Or would I need someone else with the same laptop to read the chip?Comment

Re: GL502VSK Programming IT8995VG-128
Some it's chip are non programmable
Some are programmable
So post in bios section ITE chip number and ask for ITE 128kb bios for it
You will use another computer or laptop and install vertyanov programmer software on it and via usb your laptop will connect with your motherboard and when software at laptop asks for system you will connect your motherboard via keyboard connector using strip

by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... -
Before I go further down the rabbit hole, I'd like to know if I have created a dead-end in my repair process. I am attempting to reflash my Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2's BIOS chip after a power interruption corrupted the BIOS data during an update.
I do not have backups of the data I pulled off the chip using a CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Soc...Q%3D%3D&sr=8-5

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... -
