    Asus N752VX not charging

    hey

I have an Asus Vivobook which runs fine on AC but doesnt charge the battery.
I did try with a new battery too, but issue remains.
the charging power is activated by 2 mosfets and I am pretty sure the mosfets get their signal from a IT8995.
    can the chip be verified?

Does it run from the "new" battery, AC adapter disconnected?

yes it can. as well as with the old battery. Until its running out of power of course.

Just realized that I put the wrong name of the chip, sorry. The correct name is BQ24780S

Does it report the battery percentage properly? What's the voltage on the battery rail with:
1/ AC adapter connected, battery disconnected
2/ AC adapter disconnected, battery connected
3/ AC adapter connected, battery connected

          values on the battery connector:

          1) 0V
          2) 13,8V
          3) 13,8V

with no battery connected, windows says no battery detected.
if the battery is connected and somewhat charged, windows reports the correct level. if the charger is connected, windows says charging, but the batt. level never changes

I have 2 identical laptops here. The battery is 100% ok

EDIT: double check that both DC-in MOSFETs are not shorted drain/source/gate first.

Ok, maybe a random failure of BQ24780S.
You can either replace it right away and see if it solves the problem, or measure voltage on all its pins to try to find a hint.

ok, this is the whole story:
a few backs I had a problem with the LCD which startet to show black lines. After trying to bent the cable to the LCD and the small LCD on the LCD, the laptop wouldn't start anymore and the power supply would disable the DC output when connecting to the laptop. I found out that the 2 DC-in MosFets were shorted. I replaced them (and also the LCD) and the laptop would start again but wouldn't charge the battery anymore.

I realized that the chip has a I2C interface. Is this of any use?

ASUS X54H laptop thinks it's always charging even with charger unplugged
                by flat-earther
The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.

Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.

This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.
If I let battery run out and say it has 3% Windows will...

                Hello,

I have an Asus X415EA board that is not charging the battery after some liquid damage. Everything else works, except charging the battery.
So far I measured all the pins on the bq24780s controller with the following result:

                1. ACN = 0.0V
                2. ACP = 19.02V
                3. CMSRC = 18.5V
                4. ACDRV = 23.9V
                5. ACOK = 5.9V
                6. ACDET = 2.57V
                7. IADP = 0.17V
                8. IDCHG = 0V
                9. PMON = ?
                10. PROCHOT = 5.05V
                11. SDA = 3.3V
                12. SCL = 3.3V
                13. CMPIN = 0.47V
                14. CMPOUT = 6.0V
                15. BATPRES = 0.0V
                16....

ASUS TUF Dash Motherboard FX516 REV 6.0 Model Device Not Charging
                by lazenes
The device is not charging with the 19V 180W DC charger. If the battery is full, the laptop powers on normally. I can charge it via USB Type-C, but it’s very slow. I checked the schematics but couldn’t find a solution. I even replaced the BQ24800 battery charging IC, but the issue remains the same. I suspect a MOSFET or a fuse that I might be overlooking is preventing it from charging with the adapter. Has anyone experienced a similar fault before or has any advice?...
