Picked this up on Ebay, and it is in very good condition. When powered on, the power light lights and stays on, fan turns on after awhile, but nothing on screen and no other lights flash or turn on. When pressing the power button again it turns off. Battery charge light turns on and battery charges just fine. Battery holds charge. I plugged in a diagnostic card in the msata slot and post codes increment to 6A and stop there. Cannot find any information on post codes for this model. Dell was no help, all they wanted was for me to send it in for service. I can find replacement motherboards on ebay, but would rather fix this one if I could. Do not see any damage of any kind to the board. Hooked it up to a monitor just to make sure it was not the display and got the same symptoms. No beeps either. I did find a schematic for this model. Anybody run into something like this or got any ideas on what might be the problem?

Re: Dell E7240 Laptop
I don't have an oscilloscope, but I think there is data or the diagnostic card would not have incremented up to code 6A. The problem is it stops before it can finish the bios to move on to booting the system.Comment

Re: Dell E7240 Laptop
Just to give an update, it was a bios problem. Received the CH341A programmer with test clip and it worked perfect. Did not have to un-solder, just put the clip on and was able to erase and program both bios chips.Comment

by mikey5791Dear all,
Bought this used Dell laptop PP24L(studio 1435) in Jan 2022. It was running smooth on 64 bit Windows 7 pro from processor Intel core Duo T6400@2Ghz with 2GB RAM. The laptop battery was charging and working fine until few months back the opening screen will display something like "replacing the battery warning", press F1 to continue. Normally i press F1, the laptop will proceed to Windows and i can use as normal.
But last week, after i pressed F1, the laptop just shut down. I suspected the laptop battery is dead. So i pulled out the battery and... -
by BowlineMy question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell... -
by CalidebearHi,
I have this laptop for a long time, still it does it's job, like browsing, word , excel. Two years back laptop Hinge base broken but now it's damaging other parts of laptop so I tried to totally remove the embedded display cable from laptop and tried to boot only with external display monitor, but it doesn't boot and gives single beeps. BIOS checking the embedded display to be connected.
So checked the schematics to bypass this issue.
Found something but I don't know how to read this schematics.
