    Alienware 15 not charging

    Hello all,

I have an Alienware 15 laptop that is not charging the battery. When I plug in the adapter it shows as charging sometimes and sometimes not, but always recognizes the adapter is being used. Either way it never actually charges. When it does show up as charging it'll say something like "5 minutes remaining" even though the battery is only at 1% at this point. Changing the battery was already attrempted and this made no difference.

When I measure the voltage at the battery I notice when I plug in the adapter that the voltage briefly goes up to 18V and then goes back to around 13.5. When I unplug the charger the battery voltage goes to around 12.5 or so. It seems voltage does get to the battery and the circuits that go there are working although perhaps not correctly, I do find that 18V spike strange. I was wondering if it's just the battery being measured incorrectly and it's actually being charged the whole time but after about 10 seconds the computer does shut down when only battery is used.

I ran the diagnostic at startup and the stats for the battery say 0mA flow into the battery during charge and aprox 2 amps consumption when I unplug adapter. Adapter is also recognized in bios.

    Battery pins show

    1-4: 12-13V
    5: 3.3V
    6. 3.3V
    7. 0V
    8. 0V
    9. 0V
    10-14: 0V

All help is greatly appreciated guys.

Such a poor description of your problem in such a long description. You have neither mentioned the mb code, laptop model number, charging ic code. Do you still think we can help you??

I'm not sure of the exact model of the laptop besides "alienware 15", the label at the bottom has faded away. Motherboard is LA-B751P and the schematic is attached below.

the screen is referred to the replaced battery? it's a 12 volt battery.

what voltage got the original battery? because some notebook wont work if original battery is 15-17 volt and replaced battery is 11-12 volt.

                Great tip!

However it seems both new and old batteries are the same. I ran diagnostics with the old battery whith basically the same results. Old battery is only at 65% health but should still be able to charge fine.

The bios shows charger as the correct 180W charger.

can u make a picture of both battery label?

"When I measure the voltage at the battery I notice when I plug in the adapter that the voltage briefly goes up to 18V "

that with battery? can u try without battery to read pin 1-2 of battery connector as u plug in charger?

                    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

HP ProBook 445 G8 Battery not charging
                    by Julian Bailey
                    Hi all

We have in a HP ProBook 445 G8 laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 CPU. When power is connected the power LED light blinks 5 times then stops. Normally HP laptops will blink this LED 10 times as it does a self test when the AC adaptor is inserted. So there must be some sort of short somewhere.

The battery doesn't charge, and is erratic on the MM voltage. Bench PSU LED pulsates when the battery is connected also. So the fault must be on the charging circuit?

I have gone around the board with a MM and cant find anything

                    Windows shows the battery fine,...

Alienware 15 R2 Service Tag: DL7NN32 ISSUE (Battery is not charging)
                    by Simone Vergani
                    Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:

                    1. Some theory
                    1.1. Introduction
Almost every laptop has a charging circuit of some sort, that does a few things:
                    • Manages switching between AC adapter and battery power
                    • Manages battery charging and generates power rail to charge battery

There are 2 different designs to handle switching between AC adapter and battery power and feeding the system:
                    • Hybrid power boost (HPB) and traditional circuits without power boost (see Warning in HPB section)
                    • Narrow VDC (NVDC)

Texas instrument has a nice overview of these technologies with some more details at https:...

since i couldn't find schematic or boardview for this model (LA-K062P), i use closest board model found here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-and-boardview

the schematic share same marking for each component, using same PD-Controller, same BQ25710, the only different is the battery cell used. LA-K061P uses 3S battery while LA-K062P use 4S battery per schematic.
