There is no course to cover everything. You learn from mistakes and you collect experience over time.
Every board is different and may have different problems. Every idiot could repair boards when there is "the ultimate one and only guide that covers everything".

"collection of mistakes is called experience"

In my opinion there are two ways to start repairing notebooks, assisting someone while working and asking questions, or researching the internet and learning from mistakes or (the best situation) both things together. It is important to have some knowledge of electronics and not to do the advice of someone without understanding what is being done. All the books I read did not convince me, the examples referred to outdated motherboards. It is better to take a datasheet, understand for example how a step down converter works and even with different chips we know what to check.
