shorted mosfet and capacitor if processor is installed common in i7 and i5 series

i encounter it in i7 and i5 series laptop, the mosfet and caps are shorted when i installed processor.

CPU VCore (and a bunch of other power rails) will always have low resistance to ground with the CPU on the board.

@piernov how to test if low resistance to grounds. ( is that the very small black resistor) should i replace them all.

        How big is the resistance?

I think a value of about 1-2 ohms is normal

normally in diode mode the value must not be 0000 other values could be acceptable, for example 0003 <i7-6500U <0007.

In diode mode meter can show 0.000. I personally don't use diode mode, I always use resistance mode, and for example Ivy Bridge mobile can show 1.5 ohm and it's fine. Some high-end desktop CPU will be lower than 1 ohm, some desktop GPU too. Never assume you have a short to ground on a high-power low-voltage rail.

so guys it more than one resistor? it doesnt need to take off the resistor to know the resistance? right? i'm repairing laptop and i always failed to fix that kind of problem. thank you guys for guiding me.

in this case we are checking if the cpu is not shorted and more precisely we are checking the power of the cpu (+ vcore) we are not interested in the exact value of the resistance and this does not give us any indication that it is definitely working.
as regards the single resistor it depends on how it is positioned in the circuit.

VGA MOSfet permanently shorted and loss of MOSfet pad
                  by Nooy
Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them. I am currently trying to solve two problems:

I have a Gigabyte GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD type card. I managed to find the faulty MOSfet (AON6414A) on it, which I replaced. The card starts up, but after about half a minute, the MOSfet in the same position will be shorted again. Is it possible that the PWM controller driving the MOSfet...

Capacitor Diarrhea - Nichicon PL Series
                  by DrewPhillips
Hello All, I have on the bench a couple of PSU's which have some failed Nichicon PL series caps. They didn't "puke" their guts through the top, but instead "diarrhea'ed" corrosive brown electrolyte through the bottom, down the legs and onto the board. On one cap, the electrolyte rotted the cap right off the board leaving 2 little stubs, and also corroded a trace on the foil side.

The PSU's are Power-One MAP series and are ringing-choke topology. The semiconductors have date codes in 1993. The PSU's were used in a commercial application, fan-cooled. They had failed...

                  Alienware M18x Shorted CPU Mosfet
                  by chestercc
I've got an old Alienware M18x R1 which shorted out the charger whenever it was connected. Tracked down the short to two shorted caps and burned CPU power controller caused by a shorted mosfet on the CPU's graphic power supply.

I've replaced the faulty mosfet, two shorted caps and the CPU Power controller (NCP6151S52MNR2G).

Issue is now whilst there is no short if I attempt to power the system on the fans spin for a couple seconds there are no lights and no further action - the PCH is heating up but there is no CPU power coming out but there is an enable signal...
