Samsung Q1 - no power no charging... anyone with will and time to help

Hello, I am total amateur - cleaning, replacing cooler, disassembling and fixing power jacks etc is what I know.

    trying to fix samsung q1.

power jack was defective. and after successfully replaced it managed to start os on it - xp. after only minute or two laptop suddenly died.

what was strange is that battery reported as full in windows. sound worked, display worked. that is what I noticed since I had only minute to work with.

later, after new disassembling I found that flat cable was defective. and that is one issue. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=79007 - thanks on help.

other issues are - first and only: laptop wont turn on , not reporting anything. no lights no anything.

As seen on pics I checked some components, thanks to reading badcaps forums.

    PL1 760
    PL2 450
    PL3 940
    PL4 1620

    PL7 94
    PL8 36
    PL9 15

mosfets showing values except pq4 and pq5 - showing 1 (OL).

    one area is warmer.

anyone have idea what to do, where to start? thank you.

test the voltage on P667 should get 19+V both side of this resistor in your MOB charging IC is U517 but the the Schematic U516 test the voltage pin 1 2 3 6 22 25 26

I tried to check what you suggested. and I found .. - cant find P667 exactly on board while in schema page 14 I found C667 and on page 27 is R667
(btw, how to read that stuff, lol)

U517 - (in my case it is MAX8734AEEI 0648) I added attachment with all readings I wrote down.

I added pics with some resistors and caps readings. maybe helpful. (there is C697)

also, my power adapter is 18.7V - hope it is enough for this device? I have another which shows 19.9V. It is for HP saying 3.5A while for samsung is written 3.18MAX. Maybe I can use Hp?

Your power pin mesurent on MAX8734AEEI is bit confusing, are you using a original charger 19+, most probably 19+v passing through

No, I cant find original charger anymore. Story is: that laptop was used many years ago as a media device - listened radio, movies. But, somehow power jack started to heat and later computer stopped working nicely, thanks to cooler, too.
I tried to fix it in a service but only they forgot on it and I picked it after many weeks. I got some universal charger mistakenly. But, laptop never worked after. It was in a box for at least 6 years.

Meantime I have 2 more dead windows xp laptops. so, I decided to do something with them. Have dead dv6000 HP, and most recently MSI.

Maybe I can use HP adapter as I have found it yesterday. : )

also, I found possible additional problem: these two are roast hot. they are under battery - presuming cmos battery.

how to test them? they are burning hot, but cant find are they look roasted because of battery foil or they are grilled...

There is a short in the MOB short to GND or Short SMD component like you have pointed out

                  Pin 1 19+
                  Pin 3 2.63+
                  Pin 2 5+
                  Pin 6 3+
                  Pin 25/26 19+

And the rest is not correct the components burned maybe Coil & Register try to clean the area with alcohol and with the help of a magnifying glass try to read code

ok, cleaned and focused. tested with multimer. showing resistance, different, on both side.

Remove both of them and try to trace where the connection goes. That way you might find out the values of burnt components.

yes, already removed them. looks like this mobo is never ending problem. maybe bad power adapter causing all of this. thanks.

What do you mean by never ending problems! put the multimeter in continuity mode test the pad of the burned SMD most probably one side GND other power and which other Component connected to the power side

dear techtiger, first thanks on support! reminds me of 90es when people called me every day to ask how to install modems and why com port not working. : ) man, i went to so many homes to install bloody modems...

as i am amateur, and every amateur thinks his problem is easy one, I thought this will not be exhausting one. noone is here to fix remotely someones computers, but to give advice.

by what I meant is: laptop started after many years. then turned off after only few minutes - sitting on a table. i thought screen flat cable is a reason, as I aked in another thread. then i tried to check ic chip, when resistors burned - under battery - they was fine i am sure. then i think my multimeter is not measuring right after replacing its battery. then i removed - i think these are resistors, and i found that one side is soldered and other is just inserted in pcb so i do not see where i should re solder any. so, i think this mobo just adding problem by problem.

                              >> but that does not mean i am giving up. <<

maybe i am thinking too much but i do not want to take someones time and really honest approach to help when there are problems and i am learning right now.

i ordered hot air gun, ordered assorted resistors in another size (have really small sized variety). i plan to order capacitors... i have 4 dead windows xp laptops (dv6000, msi, this one and asus eee - working but cant charge batt more than 10% - when reach 10% then freezes).

only tried to fix at least one - need it for some work - old software. so, i didnt gave up, but, i need time to understand this.

and i appreciate any help. and you said to test "pads" yes, but if my power adapter caused all of this? what if he is faulty and i am making things worse... anyway i will test, but i will take another adapter and rerun tests. i think that 19.8v would be fine. this one 18.8v showing.

Try and uses an original power adapter for laptops & dc power supply is very uses full for hp Dv6 either you have to change the battery since they die or something else ,you have to come up with some Mesurent try and go through YOUTUBE how SMD components work voltage dividers etc.
