Hello all, thanks on a kind replies and on yours time.
Very hard to take a photo of this board. Lots of reflection. I cleaned already board with alcohol 96% and there wasnt lot of dirt or humidity on it. As I said, i used not working buttons on a working pcb contacts and all is working, but when I use working buttons on nonworking pcb contacts these contacts do not work.
in a diode mode I checked s1 to s8 (not working) and, pardon me i am amateur and novice, i presume all are connected with negative trace and all is...

Remote control board problem
Hello,
I have this remote for around 10 years. worked fine. few days ago some buttons stopped working. well, buttons are fine because when i try to use same buttons on other positions on board they are working - after disassembling i tried buttons over the board.
i do not have any experience fixing remotes (like I have for other things, hah) and i will probably get replacement for it, but i am trying to tighten time out especially because of this epidemic situation.
i tested board in diode mode and buttons are working, they show some ohm values, like... -

Easy task, heh, disassembled whole thing. Measured 3.4v
also,
Pin 1 shows 0v
Pin 2 shows 20.2v.

Power adapter cable disconnection caused this. Nothing ran related to battery, nor to any part of system. Nothing was tweaked. Ordinary software only was running.
Yes, battery is charging completely normal after those first few seconds after boot. If turned off laptop is connected to power adapter then it will blink 1 x 5 times. No display. Fan works very fast. And often just turn off suddenly.
If unpluged, discharged, then battery reinserted laptop will boot.

Yes, I get post with five blinks. Usually I can boot, with battery ofcourse only, after remaining power is drained (holding power button for some time, without batt and chord). Then I return batt, power on, screen is on, blinks starts...
I cant do anything until five blinks cycles ends. Then I can with esc pressed enter menu and then with selecting "continue with os load", or something like that, continue to windows. No errors in windows. All is running as it should. No bsod or any failure of software.

hello! Maybe someone have experience with this issue:
about year ago laptop got overheated due dusty fan. I replaced it with new one and applied new thermal paste since replacing fan requires disassemble of whole laptop. since then I had every time I turn it on 5 blinks of caps lock + num lock in a row. but, after some series of blinks I was able to continue loading system and I worked completely normal.
yesterday laptop shut off because power chord slipped. and strange is that laptop didnt went into sleeping mode to preserve battery.

Among 4 dead laptops I am trying to fix, currently i am typing on HP which always blinks caps+num lock every time when I power it on. all started when cooler worked poorly and 2 times experienced shut down due overheating.
point is that I left it once blinking and after a minute or two laptop just started loading os.
I replaced cooler, cleaned memory, and processor. still blinking, but after a minute or two laptop working. maybe you can give a try to wait for a few minutes. then measure.

dear techtiger, first thanks on support! reminds me of 90es when people called me every day to ask how to install modems and why com port not working. : ) man, i went to so many homes to install bloody modems...
as i am amateur, and every amateur thinks his problem is easy one, I thought this will not be exhausting one. noone is here to fix remotely someones computers, but to give advice.

also, I found possible additional problem: these two are roast hot. they are under battery - presuming cmos battery.
how to test them? they are burning hot, but cant find are they look roasted because of battery foil or they are grilled......Leave a comment:

No, I cant find original charger anymore. Story is: that laptop was used many years ago as a media device - listened radio, movies. But, somehow power jack started to heat and later computer stopped working nicely, thanks to cooler,too.
I tried to fix it in a service but only they forgot on it and I picked it after many weeks. I got some universal charger mistakenly. But, laptop never worked after. It was in a box for at least 6 years.

I tried to check what you suggested. and I found .. - cant find P667 exactly on board while in schema page 14 I found C667 and on page 27 is R667
(btw, how to read that stuff,lol)
U517 - (in my case it is MAX8734AEEI 0648) I added attachment with all readings I wrote down.
I added pics with some resistors and caps readings. maybe helpful. (there is C697)

Hello, I am total amateur - cleaning, replacing cooler, disassembling and fixing power jacks etc is what I know.
trying to fix samsung q1.
power jack was defective. and after successfully replaced it managed to start os on it - xp. after only minute or two laptop suddenly died.
what was strange is that battery reported as full in windows. sound worked, display worked. that is what I noticed since I had only minute to work with.

Hello people, this is my first post. I am completely amateur in this field, but I am trying to fixing this and that.
I have few old pcs running win xp and this samsung is great little device among them. but, I tried to fix power jack and managed to run it for a few minutes. after that laptop was dead, again. trying to find what the heck is a problem now, disassembling it, i found, also, this additional problem:
pins on flat cable was "unglued"... strange but, this is what it is. anything I can do with them, or to wait a month for a aliexpress 20pin flat... -
