how to repair a WD sata HDD?

hi, i was given a problematic 1TB Western digital Sata HDD for laptop recently.

the disk has read error, i wasn't able to read from the disk.
the person who passed the disk to me is in the business of selling laptops, he said it's possible to
fix it by replacing the circuit board, i was wondering how true this is? and i'm curious how complicated is to fix the hdd.

maybe the storage part of the hdd is good, just control logic or spinner went bad?

    specs:
    1TB WD10SPZX WD Blue (EIDE)

Read error is either dying heads/head preamp or bad sectors on the surface.
Anything that's not the PCB itself cannot be fixed. If it's for data recovery, send it to a data recovery company without attempting anything. Usually data can be recovered with the correct tools and experience, but the hard drive cannot be restored to its original state.

Also just replacing the PCB itself won't work, you at least have to swap the ROM between the PCB. But that will not solve any issue related to read/write error.
