Re: hp dv4 2160us cannot turn on
If the PCH is HM55, I think it is bad. You'll have to replace it.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

Re: hp dv4 2160us cannot turn on
I've seen multiple reports of HM55 going bad and I experienced it myself, so I guess its reliability starts to falter after a few years.
About the BIOS, search for "LA-4106P" on this forum, you should be able to find a couple of dumps.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

Re: hp dv4 2160us cannot turn on
It could be something else, like a missing power rail, try to check them all, and if one is missing, check the input voltage and the enable signal of the DC-DC controller for this power rail.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

by kjchatmanthe laptop uses a 200w charger. i can trick the battery to charge by repeatedly unplugging and plugging in the charger until the voltage on the battery terminal goes high enough. The laptop will not power on while the charger is plugged in.. The only thing i see that is strange is the gate on the charging mosfets is 24 volts even though the charger is only 20 volts

by popzeggeyHello, I have the similar problem. My Dell Precision 7520 doesn't turn on with only battery. Below are the various scenarios and its symptoms
1. With only battery, the laptop turns on but no display and shuts down after few seconds
2. With battery and charger plugged in, the battery light comes on. But pressing the power button does nothing and laptop refuses to turn on. However, the battery led light blinks every 17seconds from when the charger is plugged in with or without battery. So whether the battery is inserted or not, the battery led light will turn when charger...06-07-2024, 09:23 PM -
by baglaivladHello everybody!
Have in work A1706 820-00239 model. Originally no power, shorted PPBUS_G3H because of corroded C6403, C6404. Some water damage around this components, but nothing major.
After replacing this capacitors the laptop came back to work, I reinstalled MacOS and had no issues until I started to test Type-C ports. Sometimes the laptop shuts off immediately when some action with Type-C ports performed (charger disconnected or USB device inserted/disconnected). I checked Type-C port flexes, they are okay, but I cleaned them anyway. I can't see any signs of liquid...11-20-2024, 08:14 AM -

Hello,
I'm working on a Lenovo T460 that has been having trouble charging as of late. Its worked well since I've owned it for a few years. When I went to use it the other day it was dead and wouldn't turn on (was sitting on an Anker 65W GaN charger). After some fiddling with the charger I got it to turn on and start charging, but seemed like the charger was not working as it should (took a few plug and unplug cycles to get it to start charging).
A day later it was dead again and wouldn't boot/charge no matter what I did. No lights or anything when... -
by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... - Loading...
