    Dell 1558 short to ground

Trying to refresh my knowledge on board level troubleshooting.. I've been out for more or less a couple of decades from repairing laptops and such. Need extra info on any usual or particular components that might also be affected.

im trying to revive a dell 1558 (DAFM9CMB8C0).. Shorted whenever you plug in the adaptor.

Mosfet PQ24 and PQ25 is both gone.. replaced.. but still shorted to ground. I have check some resistor and caps to no avail. my next step would be replacing Max8731 charging IC.

Any addition info or usual components that i should also check that might be the culprit? thank you in advance.

Check all Caps on 19V Line. Check at VCC core GFX Core Mosfet Also.

When you plug in the charger or power supply.. voltage drop from 19v to 2v.. mosfet on vcc core over heats so i replaced both.. (si4835d). Still waiting for my order of max8731... i will check other mosfet on vcc and gfx core as well.. thank you.

please you have to check all the caps on 19v line or you can post schematic here

Re: Dell 1558 short to ground

Ive replaced a shorted cap, mosfet and max8731 on the 19v rail.. +5v/3.3 alw is now ok... but now the problem is the 1.8v... rt9024pe +5v input is ok but there isnt any 1.8v output.. hoping this is the last bad component.

            Any replacement fot RT9024PE?

Dell E5470 LA-C631p - Short removed now turns on but no post/display
                  by retrorepair2
Got a really frustrating issue here, got a Dell laptop as above which initially had a short on the +POWER_SRC rail, discovered a short cap in a bank of 3 near PU801. Removed and verified the short was gone, it was and the laptop powered on, tried to load windows but just kept rebooting. Sometimes didn't post. Battery was charging.

Stripped it back down and replaced the cap (assumed looking at the LA-632p schematic it's a 10U cap, no boardview so who really knows). Now the board doesn't charge the battery and while it powers on with a brief spin of the fans, there's no display on the...

450watt power supply 5v, 3.3v short to ground wire,in output rail ,connectors
                  by playit
hello everyone , working zebronics power suply 450 watts , 5v ,3.3v givin short to ground black wire, also in circuit at output, resistor was charred but shows right values , after removing resistors 39ohms, 51 ohms, there was no short , no continuity beeps with ground , but after replacing new resistors (now i am not switching it on) ,again short still exists . when i put bigger ohm resistor like 100k ohm , no short beeping sound comes , lower ohm resistor gives continuity beeps ,other big ones donest , as its a working psu , i am confused what to remove now or how to go further now .

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                  by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Diagnosing short to ground issue. pcb from an e scooter
                  by Leefreeman97
Hello, I have a pcb from an e scooter which had a faulty diode but even after removing it from circuit, it still has a short to ground on the three components circled. I have removed every cap on the board and tested one by one and the short is still there and all the caps test ok. Could this be because I haven’t put a diode back on it yet or where do I go next please?

DELL Nvidia GTX 750Ti Mosfet goes short after a few minutes
                  by aaronkatrini
                  Hi all,

I have recently picked up this Dell OEM Nvidia GTX 750Ti 2GB Video card. Its an old card I know but still wanted to get it working if possible. The problem is the following:

                  - Put the card in my testing motherboard and start running Heaven benchmark
                  - Benchmarks seems to run smoothly up until half way then the motherboard completely shuts off immediately
                  - Try to start it again and I get a slight move from the PSU fan - a clear short
                  - A little troubleshooting later I find one shorted Mosfet - Replace them both - short is gone
                  - Put the...
