Hey all badcapers Today I got a present from a good friend of mine, Lenovo Thinkpad E30 and you won't believe it but it's not working So let's start with the history, it was quite a good laptop before my friend decided to upgrade Ram, then he bought some used Ram SODIMMs and they were not working in correct order so he tried replacing them while the laptop was turned on So what we have now is a laptop that does turn on but no video if I take off RAM and press power it beeps signaling that there is no Ram installed. Maybe some of you have schematics for it and/ or some ideas where could be the problem? I'm quite advanced at soldering but new to laptops so finding the right cause sometimes almost seems impossible, I can change KBC, BGA chips.. I would be really grateful for a cup of knowledge!

memory driver is buld in NB so try to replace it

How about something easier at first? Because laptop detects that there is no Ram if I don't install them and starts beeping, with RAM it runs like with damaged RAM, fan spins a bit, the power LED turns on, HDD spinning, I would say it's pretty similar to bad GPU

near the ram there are some coils that provide voltage to socket memory ram!

how much voltage you got there?
like ktmmotocross said; if the feedback its done by NB you might need to replace the chip.

maybe maybe the regulators are bad.

without schematic its very hard to trace. Not impossible but hard

Can anybody post bios dump? My bios is empty :/ Changed NB, everything is the same...

Ok may be obvious but are you using the same RAM modules your friend bought or different known working RAM?

Yes I am using tested RAM which are working on other laptop

If it always shows symptom of power, but no video and no bleeps at all.

It beeps only if don't insert RAM and power it on

To sum up what I have done so far, tested all caps aruond that area, changed about 20 SODIMMs, change NB to brand new working, where should I look next?

BIOS? Back up and write new bios

did a backup uploaded here, can't find new one, found only one but it's for AMD not intel

We got a guru with bios.
He help me to last week.
Upload the old bios.

it's mounted, so today I will try replacing with a working one, I hate reballing
