    Dual USB port desoldering fail

Well, I desoldered a broken dual USB port from a laptop motherboard (HP Compaq nx6325) using only my soldering iron. Unfortunately, I managed to mess up the right-side pad on the top side of the motherboard (see picture). Will USB work without this or will some additional wiring be needed?

    Thanks

Re: Dual USB port desoldering fail

Thanks. I thought it would but wasn't sure. Now I need to find a suitable replacement. The pins are quite close together...

please help, friend, thinkpad L480 NM-B461 rev 1.0 JDOCK1 type C port 5volt only, thank you
          by fredyjbi
          I have a thinkpad L480 NM-B461 rev 1.0 laptop functioning normally with Type 1 port (JUSBC1)
if you use port type C 2 (JDOCK1) with a usb type meter it only displays 5v, thank you
I tried to look at the schematic diagram USBC_VBUS20, which is the port path from JusBC 1 to U4701 then goes to the system2 charging IC, why is there no system2 path leading to the charging IC on the TYPEC_VBUS20 port which is JDOCK1, thank you for your help.

if you look at the power sequence there must be 2 types of port type C a (JUSBC1) via U4701 and port type C b (JDOCK1)
          On the type...

          by cnti
          Hi.
BacCaps forum is awesome - thank YOU ALL for sharing knowledge!

This is about DONG YANG PSU BN44-00195A failiure in Samsung 245BPLUS. It started with bang and smoke from the back of LCD. Downloaded diagram BM44-00192A - a bit different but I will use all parts names from this diagram [and real PSU].
BIG CAP CP801 had 315V, on standby pin 5,2V. After shorting S_B ON (through 3,3k ohm resistor) 24V and 5,3V were missing, on CP801 was 312V.

          RM801 [real PSU: RM801 - 0,22 ohm 1W] - FAIL
          burned, measured 10M ohm.

          QM801 [real PSU:...

Chromebook USB-C no longer recognized USB devices after shorting
          by theflyingsquirrel
I have a Samsung chromebook Pro and one of the USB-C port have something inside and was shorting. The particular thing look like a loose soldering debris. It was at a bit off middle so I think it was shorting the vbus and data pin. I ended up desoldering the whole usbc port and removed it. Upon removoing the usbc port, the chromebook boot again. I can charge with the remaining usbc port (now I found out that when I charge with higher power charger, it does not work), but I cannot get it to recognize any USB stick I plug in. May be the handshake is gone? In the pictures, you can still see the USBC...
